Today’s Scripture
“Then the word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time: “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.”   (Jonah 3:1–2, NIV)

Second Chances
After Jonah’s first refusal to go and preach to the city of Nineveh, God in His mercy used a great fish to rescue Jonah from certain death. The story could have ended there, but God doesn’t want to just rescue you from your mess, He wants to give you another chance to get to where you’re supposed to be. That mistake doesn’t disqualify you. God is always going to give you another chance and another to fulfill His best plan for your life.

The second time God told Jonah to go to the city of Nineveh, he obeyed and saw God do amazing things. The point is, Jonah’s mistake did not stop his destiny. It’s not too late to become everything you were created to be. If you’ll start right where you are, honoring God, being your best, serving others, the right doors will open, the right people will show up. The good news is, you’re covered by mercy.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that when I make a mistake and cause a mess, You don’t say, ‘Too bad, you had your chance, you’re on your own.’ Thank You for Your mercy that covers me and gives me second chances. I believe You will get me to where I’m supposed to be. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Really, I love the story about Jonah.  From the 1st time I heard it in an Episcopal Church Sunday School Class.  My parents were neither of them religious but they wanted their only son to have some morals and ethics and so took me often to Sunday School.  Each of the O.T. stories has a good lesson from Adam to John.  Not much about Jesus that was for church on Sunday morning.  Now getting baptized was my entree into Spiritual Stuff.  At 19 months I remember lividly my baptism.   We, as a family went to town, which was always fun.  But something was up as they put new shoes on my feet and dressed me up rather proper with blue shorts and a white shirt and with golden Curly hair I cut quite the picture.  I remember my dad carrying me under his right arm like a sack of potatoes into this really big barn with lots of people sitting on thin pieced of wood with a bunch of shinny stuff and candles up front.   I thought we were going to Dinner.  As in the South when a bunch of people get together there was always food, but I could not smell anything good to eat.  Then he turned to the left toward some men dressed in black at a big stone bowl full of water but nothing in it to eat.  By that time I was getting a little antsy and then my dad gave me to one of those guys and he tipped me over and began to say a blessing over the food? When there wasn’t any.  And then he started putting water on my head and all I could think of was Aunt Susie cleaning a chicken for dinner.  About that time I let out a howl that filled that barn but they kept going and so did I.  They finally gave up and let me go and I hit the ground running and got out of the crazy place.  Later that guy in black came out the front porch with two ladies and I let him know what I felt about it with a couple of hands full of rocks.  I have laughed about the experience for years as I am sure the Lord has as well but it points up the fact that the meaning behind what we do does not always register clearly with others.  We have become so traditional that we think we are clear, but we are not.  And then we walk away condemning the other person for being stupid.   Much of the Bible has been abused in just that way.   Things are removed from their context and in today’s conversation become meaningless.  A Chinese friend was asked of a car shipping company for her ”pick up address” twice and she did not know what he was talking about so gave the destination of the car, twice, he got angry.  So it is imperative for those of us really living in and with Jesus to be patient with the world in their misunderstandings of spiritual truth.   Yesterday over the phone I was explaining to a very dear brother that it was in really in making Jesus our LORD (Master, Boss) that HE becomes our savior.  It is clear completely through the New Testament.  And yet the normal Christian points to their Church Membership or being good to confirm that Jesus is their savior and that they are destined to go to heaven because they consider themselves good people.  But in their life style, you can not tell them to be different from the world.  Being a Christian ultimately frees one totally from this world and all of it’s manipulations.  We become pilgrims who are just passing through and lovingly tell all we can that the ticket has been paid, the water of life is free with Jesus as LORD.  We know this when even our thought life comes under the discipline and authority of Jesus Christ.  2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; For the perfecting of the Saints, Eph. 4:11-16.  Most don’t even know that the Saints, The Elect, Those going to heaven are expected to be perfected in Christ Jesus as LORD by the Holy Spirit ?  We try to make God in our image, God wants us to choose to be in HIS image including our freewill,   Who do you expect will win.   God is not going to allow man’s Rebellion and Pride into HIS eternal world.   Look at what man’s pride has done to this one.

Founded in 2009 by prominent Evangelical Ralph Reed, the FFC expects to spend over $40 million on its grassroots campaign to return Trump to the Whitehouse.

Today’s Scripture       (Across my desk this morning from a church in Texas.)
“And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her.”  (Genesis 17:16, NKJV)

More Than You Can Imagine
Sarah and her husband, Abraham, were very old. Sarah had been barren her whole life and not able to have children, but God spoke today’s Scripture to Abraham. When Sarah heard this, it was so unbelievable that she laughed. She was out in the desert, there were no fertility treatments or medical procedures, and she was ninety years old. Every circumstance said it was impossible, and yet it happened. God was saying, “Sarah, what I put in you is more than you can imagine.”

God is saying the same thing to you: “What I put in you is still going to come to pass. There is greatness in you. It’s much bigger than what you think.” Don’t let circumstances talk you out of your dreams and potential. You may not see how it can work out. God has ways to do it that you’ve never thought of. One touch of God’s favor will catapult you to the next level.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for the dreams, the promises, the potential, the seeds of greatness that You put inside me. Thank You for the divine connections, the explosive blessings, and the supernatural opportunities You have in my future. I believe I will give birth to my dreams. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Comments:
I sometime have a spiritual barf when promises are taken out of context and applied to a totally different situation.  God,  said this to Abraham, the father of faith, Not to everyone.  Heb.11 is a whole chapter on how faith works.  The Bible teaches us that Abraham believed God and it was counted as righteousness.   It is the same for us.  In my study about Abraham I am often spiritually jealous of Abraham’s ability to hear the voice of God.  How did he get such clear reception?   He had no doubts in his heart at all about taking Isaac up on the mountain to make him a sacrifice.  Of course it was a test to reveal Abraham’s heart to Abraham as God already knew and had already caught the ram in the thicket for the sacrifice.  And of course the sacrifice looked ahead for about 2,000 years later when Jesus would be that final sacrifice for our sins as in Isa.53….  Start reading in Isa. 52:9 to catch the context.

So don’t let anyone ever take something written for someone out of context and make it a personal application for you.   Sometime Christians have told me that the feel they have Paul’s ‘Thorn” in the flesh.   And I laugh and ask them if their name is Paul?  And did you prostrate yourself on the floor when God was talking to you about it?  NO!  Than just pure assumption.  And of course God so loved the world (each of us) that HE gave his only begotten son to take the penalty of our sin.  But that is also conditional on us making Him LORD.  So, really, each of us can find examples of the People of God in History of what God can do.  But each of us is totally responsible, before God, of what we do with what HE has given us.  Rom.1:17-20 So let us start from there:   “For in the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith [disclosed in a way that awakens more faith]. As it is written and forever remains written, “The just and upright shall live by faith.”18 For [God does not overlook sin and] the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who in their wickedness suppress and stifle the truth, 19 because that which is known about God is evident within them [in their inner consciousness], for God made it evident to them. 20 For ever since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship [all His creation, the wonderful things that He has made], so that they [who fail to believe and trust in Him] are without excuse and without defense.  Need to read this again, carefully….. and again….   God has set it up so only those who really want to know, can find, Luke 11:9-12, ““So I say to you, ask and keep on asking, and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking, and you will find; knock and keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who [a] keeps on asking [persistently], receives; and he who keeps on seeking [persistently], finds; and to him who keeps on knocking [persistently], the door will be opened. 11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?  13 If you, then, being evil [that is, sinful by nature], know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him!”            (2nd Work of Grace, Gift of the Holy Spirit to HIS children…)

In their letter to John Donahoe, the coalition called Conservative Clergy of Color said: “We have watched with sadness and frustration as the country we love has been torn apart by violence and looting. You have been happy to play into the hands of anarchists at home and ignore slavery abroad.”     The Portland Police Bureau released a statement on Sunday saying that “multiple firebombs, mortars, rocks, and other items” were thrown at policemen during a riot in Southeast Portland, Ore., on Sunday night.     The U.S. unemployment rate dropped to 8.4% in August from 10.2%, beating expectations.      The UN’s nuclear watchdog said Friday that Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium has exceeded the limit set in its 2015 nuclear deal with world powers by more than 10 times.     The NATO military alliance demands that Russia reveals its Novichok nerve agent program to international monitors, after the poisoning of activist Alexei Navalny.

VANITY & MODESTY,     “WORTH CONSIDERING” 9/6/20     From Ken<><

As you fool around with the Internet and YouTube, you come across lots of interesting things.  While surfing the other day, I came across this rather bland faced Chinese girl on YouTube and wondered why she was on the internet.  Then they did a Hollywood makeup on her and she miraculously  became an instant beauty queen.  That is according to our Hollywood standards.  And of course those standards are always changing as are the products being sold to help us keep up to date.   As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.   And out of the heart come the issues of life.

And I got to thinking how many of our lifetime decisions have been made basically upon the superficial and external and not on what really counts.  And how much our culture has changed in a few hundred years.  Men use to look for women who liked to stay at home.  Liked to cook and be a help in the family.  Women that would be the example of a good mother in raising children. And the Women would be looking for an honest, hard working, gentle and loving men for a husband that would be the example of a good father.  The search was about what was inside and not so much as to the outside.  It was what was the soul like and not the house that the soul lives in.

Of course several hundred years ago folks were mostly closer to their Bibles than our culture is today.  We have been in a retraining program by Hollywood and those who want to make money off of appealing to our baser instincts which the Bible calls: The lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life.  Or the rebellion and pride that we inherited from Adam.  In fact most folks out there today have been trained not to believe there was ever an Adam or a Jesus that was resurrected and became God/Man in the Image of God.  In fact most believe that we eat, drink, be merry and tomorrow we die and so what.  When they tell me this,  I usually respond with.  “Well if that is true, it will make no difference to me at all, still had a good life.   However if I am right, you will be in deep du du…  So you better do your own research on the subject as it is of eternal importance.  The Bible teaches, “It is appointed unto man, once to die, and after this the judgment.”  So none of this will be important unless you have some degree of faith that the Bible is still a good book to go to for what God teaches about how to live and how ro be with HIM for eternity.

Vanity is used 29 times in the Amplified Bible Translation.  Ecc. 1:   “The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. “Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher. “Vanity of vanities! All [that is done without God’s guidance] is vanity [futile, meaningless—a wisp of smoke, a vapor that vanishes, merely chasing the wind].” What advantage does man have from all his work Which he does under the sun (while earthbound)? …”   Phil.3:18-20, “ For there are many, of whom I have often told you, and now tell you even with tears, who live as enemies of the cross of Christ [rejecting and opposing His way of salvation], 19 whose fate is destruction, whose god is their belly [their worldly appetite, their sensuality, their vanity], and whose glory is in their shame—who focus their mind on earthly and temporal things. 20 But [we are different, because] our citizenship is in heaven. And from there we eagerly await [the coming of] the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;   2 Pet.2:18: “For uttering arrogant words of vanity [pompous words disguised to sound scholarly or profound, but meaning nothing and containing no spiritual truth], they beguile and lure using lustful desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error.”  So here is what David, Paul and Peter feel about Vanity.  So what really is Vanity?

What does the Bible mean by vanity?
Wisdom, pleasure, toil, advancement, and riches are all meaningless. The King James Version translation uses the word “vanity” here, meaning something that people do simply out of pride but that ultimately is inconsequential. … Wisdom, pleasure, toil, advancement, and riches are all meaningless.  
VANITY FAIR:   A place where everyone is striving for that which is not worth having.   

So what does the Bible teach about MODESTY: “Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves modestly and appropriately and discreetly in proper clothing, not with [elaborately] braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 1 Tim. 2:9.”     “…when they see your modest and respectful behavior [together with your devotion and appreciation—love your husband, encourage him, and enjoy him as a blessing from God].”  Humility also falls into the same file:  The [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the instruction for wisdom [its starting point and its essence]; And before honor comes humility, Prov.15:33    “The reward of humility [that is, having a realistic view of one’s importance] and the [reverent, worshipful] fear of the Lord Is riches, honor, and life, Prov.22:4″“…But the tax collector, standing at a distance, would not even raise his eyes toward heaven, but was striking his chest [in humility and repentance], saying, ‘God, be merciful and gracious to me, the [especially wicked] sinner [that I am]!’  Luke 18:13.: “     “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God [with faith and humility] like a child will not enter it at all, Luke 18:17 spoken by Jesus.”     “… with all humility [forsaking self-righteousness], and gentleness [maintaining self-control], with patience, bearing with one another in [unselfish] love, Eph.4:2.”    “…Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit [through factional motives, or strife], but with [an attitude of] humility [being neither arrogant nor self-righteous], regard others as more important than yourselves, Phil.2:3.”     “Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility], Phil.2:5.”       “Let no one defraud you of your prize [your freedom in Christ and your salvation] by insisting on mock humility and the worship of angels, going into detail about visions [he claims] he has seen [to justify his authority], puffed up [in conceit] by his nonspiritual mind, Col.2:18.”      “These practices indeed have the appearance [that popularly passes as that] of wisdom in self-made religion and mock humility and severe treatment of the body (asceticism), but are of no value against sinful indulgence [because they do not honor God].  Col. 2:23.”       “So, as God’s own chosen people, who are holy [set apart, sanctified for His purpose] and well-beloved [by God Himself], put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience [which has the power to endure whatever injustice or unpleasantness comes, with good temper]; Col 3:12.”   “Likewise, you younger men [of lesser rank and experience], be subject to your elders [seek their counsel]; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another [tie on the servant’s apron], for God is opposed to the proud [the disdainful, the presumptuous, and He defeats them], but He gives grace to the humble, 1 Pet.5:5.

So if you are into the Bible and really want to know what God thinks about these things this could give you a beginning study to expand and find out for yourself as your eternity really is at risk until you ore an overcomer at graduation (death)..  When you read the above, you will feel a clear bell tone of truth in your heart of hearts?   I know that you will….   So obey and follow God’s Truth and not the World’s fiction and all will be well with your soul.

CHOSEN OF GOD

 Today’s Scripture                (Across my desk this morning from a church in Texas.)
“You have been set apart as holy to the LORD your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure….”   (Deuteronomy 14:2, NLT)

Live by a Higher Standard
There’s a constant pressure trying to squeeze you into being common, into doing what everyone else is doing today. Don’t let that thinking rub off on you. Today’s Scripture is saying you’re not common. You’re not like everyone else. You’ve not only been chosen by the Most High God, but He set you apart. He made you uncommon.

It takes courage to be different. It takes courage to not compromise. People will try to make you feel weak because you don’t go with the majority, you don’t party with everyone, you don’t gossip, you don’t play politics. The truth is, you’re not weak; you’re strong. You are uncommon. People around you may be giving in to temptation, doing things you know are not the best. That’s the enemy trying to deceive you into being common. He knows that if you’re like everyone else, it will keep you from becoming all you were created to be. Don’t fall into that trap. Be uncommon.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You not only chose me, but You set me apart to be Your special treasure. I’m not going to be pressured into compromising, and I’m not going to live like everyone else. I’m going to live by a higher standard, and I believe I will see uncommon favor. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Comments:
Actually, many are called but few are Chosen.  “Matt.22:11-14.. “But when the king came in to see the dinner guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed [appropriately] in wedding clothes, 12 and he said, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without wearing the wedding clothes [that were provided for you]?’ And the man was speechless and without excuse. 13 Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him into the darkness outside; in that place there will be weeping [over sorrow and pain] and grinding of teeth [over distress and anger].’ 14 For many are called (invited, summoned), but few are chosen.”    This one of those very deep teachings of Christ Jesus that many just circular file till never never comes back around.  Not a great ending, but the simple TRUTH.  Want to be of the Elect of God?   Make Christ Jesus LORD.

The Context here is very important and has to do with God’s Absolute Foreknowledge and the Gift of Righteousness that is received upon repentance and making Jesus Lord, Master & Savior.  The man at the wedding is an example,   he felt his clothing, his own evaluation of his own righteousness was better that the garments offered by the King of the Wedding Feast.  That did not work very well.  Also the chosen in God’s dimension of eternity are those who HE knows before hand will bow their knee and make Jesus Lord, even before they were born.  Rom. 9:13.   So in the Bible it seems that God has already selected those who are HIS Elect or Chosen, But in fact this knowledge is based upon what HE already knew before even the creation of matter of what each soul would do with their free will in choosing light or darkness in their life time.   Like an architect knows exactly what a building is going to look like before the first shovel of dirt.  But the blue print is not the building.  So the building of the Kingdom of God is now process,  Eph.4:11-16.  When the Body of Christ has all of the parts in place it becomes the LORD’S Rod of Iron, Rev.2:25-29 and then is translated into the Kingdom of God for removing all of the darkness in the spiritual realm.  It is really an amazing plan.  We in Adam allowed the darkness in and those in Christ Jesus get to boot it out, 1 Cor.6:3. Rev.12:11.   So you are not a chosen one of God, unless you have made the free will choice to, by God’s Grace, make Jesus really LORD, Master.

The results were published in the European Journal of Internal Medicine.     U.S. Attorney General William Barr has confirmed that the Justice Department monitors the protest movement Antifa amid concerns about escalating violence across the nation. “I’ve talked to every police chief in every city where there has been major violence. And they all have identified Antifa as the ramrod for the violence,” Barr told U.S. broadcaster CNN.   The Democrat-led California General Assembly has OK’d legislation that would ease the criminal punishments for LGBT adults who sodomize or perform oral sex on underage teenagers.    According to preliminary results of the 2020 State of Theology survey, 30% of Evangelicals and over 50% of all American adults do not believe Jesus is God, the Christian Post reports. The poll was conducted from March 10 to 18 among 3,002 US adults including 630 professing evangelicals. The final report is expected to be published on September 8.     Muslim militants have killed hundreds of Christians, including pregnant women, children, and whole families in Ethiopia’s most populous regional state, aid workers told Worthy News.     *Rosh Hashanah begins this year on Friday, September 18, at sundown in Israel, 6:41 PM. That’s morning here in the U.S., 8:41 AM Pacific Time, 11:41 Eastern Time. Rosh Hashanah is a time of celebration and blowing of trumpets. Here is Your Chain Breaker
Jesus saw a lady in the synagogue who had been crippled for eighteen years. She was bent over and unable to stand up. It’s interesting that He described the infirmity as a chain, that she was bound by it. He touched her and instantly she was healed.   We all have forces that are trying to hold us back, chains that restrict us. Chains of guilt—beating yourself up for past mistakes. Chains of depression—a dark cloud follows you around. Chains of low self-esteem—you never feel good about yourself. But you were not created to be bound, whether it’s by loneliness, by shame, or by negative words spoken over you. The good news is our God is a chain breaker, and He is saying, “This is your time to be free. It is not your destiny to go through life with something limiting you.” If you let this take root, every chain that’s holding you back is being broken.

Prayer for today:
“Father, thank You that I can know You as my savior, as my provider, as my healer, and as my chain breaker. Thank You that my chains are gone, and I’ve been set free. I believe that every force that has been holding me back has been broken. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Comments,
Often in the Old and New Testaments we see that our Creator want’s us to have a healthy 120 year of life to figure out how to use our free will in a positive way.  But the world was given to Adam to rule and he gave it to lucifer to rule.  And lucifer wants to kill us as quickly as possible.  He knows that if we ever get our spiritual heads together in true Godly unity that we will be able to destroy all of his efforts to keep this world in his own power.  Jesus came to open the door for us to take back our souls and lives in victory.   And Jesus also showed us how to do just that.  The Holy Bible and especially the New Testament is a love letter from God through HIS prophets to tell us exactly how to do just that and to have victory where ever we go.

Problem is our heads got in the way and we started wanting the Glory of Jesus and ran off with HIS glory to do our own thing.  No we have thousands of divisions all telling us that they are the Truth but in conflict with each other.  The real key is if we are united (John 17) in God’s Truth then we can do what Jesus did in that unity.  But in being divided the enemy can have us for lunch.  So it is up to us to know the wisdom and truth that the Holy Spirit has given us through HIS prophets and find the unity that Jesus prayed for in John 17. 20-22.   If we can come into HIS TRUTH and SPIRITUAL UNITY we will see the Glory (power) of God through Christ Jesus our LORD in the HOLY SPIRIT as did the Early Church.  If we don’t we can go on having ho hum church entertainment as usual.  Usually we find enough support to be saved and a member but not to become an overcomer and experience the power of God.  So where ever you are you can become filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.  And you can help others become filled with the Holy Spirit and in the Unity of the Faith and the bond of peace we can begin to experience the resurrection power that Christ Jesus gave us upon HIS resurrection.   So if you are willing to put your Adamic carnal nature to death, you will find that you can enjoy the LIFE OF GOD here and now.  And you can become part of a hot fire that will help other old wet logs to get on fire as well.   That is what Stephen’s hot fire did for Saul who was transformed by the Holy Spirit into Apostle Paul who wrote about ½ of our New Testament.  So lets get into some scriptural support for all of this:       “Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe [Me] because of the [very] works themselves [which you have witnessed]. 12 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, anyone who believes in Me [as LORD] will also do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these [in extent and outreach], because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in My name [[a]as My representative], this I will do, so that the Father may be glorified and celebrated in the Son. John 14:11-13    And when they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted [that it was really He]. 18 Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Matt.28:17-19″ (Note: disciples like HIM, not just church members.)        “I do not pray for these alone [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for [all] those who [will ever] believe and trust in Me through their message, 21 that they all may be one; just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe [without any doubt] that You sent Me.  22 I have given to them the glory (power) and honor which You have given Me, that they may be one, just as We are one; John 17:20-22.

Today’s Scripture            (Across my desk this morning from a church in Texas.)
“Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church….”(Acts 12:5, NKJV)

Prayer Makes the Difference
King Herod hated believers so much that he had the apostle James killed, then he had Peter put in prison. With chains on both wrists, Peter was guarded by four squads of soldiers to make sure he didn’t escape. Today’s Scripture says the church was in prayer constantly for Peter, asking God to somehow bring him out. While they were praying in the middle of the night, an angel showed up in the prison and woke Peter up. He was sleeping, not praying, but he had friends who were praying. The chains fell off Peter’s wrists, and they walked past two guard posts and the prison’s iron gate opened on its own accord. Peter’s life was spared.  Are you praying for others? All of your family members, friends, and relatives should be like Peters. Cover them in prayer. When you pray, Red Seas part, hungry lions can’t open their mouths, cancer is overcome, blessings rain down. Your prayer can bring an angel.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that when I pray, something powerful happens, supernatural things take place. Help me to develop a habit of praying for others and be patient and stay faithful when I don’t see anything happening. I believe that my prayers make a difference. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Ken Thoughts,
For some time now I have been considering this subject.  As often we pray for things and it does not happen.  So what are the things that may make prayer more effective:

1.    A place where you can go and feel safe and undisturbed.  This is different for different kinds of people.  Some are less sensitive to their environment and others are more.  But a place where you feel the Holy Spirit would be comfortable.

2.    Time to get through the mind clutter of junk that we are trying to clear every day.  Things we need to do, things that are wrong, unforgiving attitudes towards others.  We want God to forgive us?  We need to let every one else go that have wronged us…  It is in the WORD to let all go as we also want to be free of judgment for ourselves.

3.    Is what we are praying for a piece of Adam’s world or for the Holy Kingdom of God, Is it for the lust of the flesh and eyes and pride of life.  Or is it needed to help myself and others to find a closer walk with God in the HOLY SPIRIT?  Is it really in the will of God for me or us?

4.    Is there unity in the prayer with others of like faith?  With 2 in accord in prayer the requests are 5 times more powerful than praying solo.  1 Peter 3 tells us that unless the wife and husband are in unity in prayer, their prayers will not get through.

5.    “Don’t use words too big for the subject. Don’t say infinitely when you mean very; otherwise you’ll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite.” C. S. LEWIS

6.    Faith is the substance of things hoped for, Heb. 11,   And it takes a lot to make a change in the Heart to have heart faith.   But it is heart faith that get’s us saved.  It is heart faith that get’s us filled with the Holy Spirit for Power.  And it is the faith of God that even holds each atom together in the universe.  Our Heavenly Father is wanting to teach us to walk in faith in prayer.  When we begin to see faith as real substance in our heart that is when we will see the results.  Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

7.    Want to grow in faith so that your prayers are answered?   Get yourself a audio copy of the New Testament with a convenient way of listening.  Alexander Scorby narrates a King James reading that is perfect.  At least my choice.  Listen to the New Testament over and over and over until you heart has recorded every word.  And you will see your faith grow and grow and grow and soon mountains will start to be removed from out of your way.  Before you even pray you will have the knowledge in your heart that it is already done.  That our Creator already knew that you would be praying that prayer in faith and already has the answer on the way.  In the Gospels note all the things that Jesus could do and not do according to their faith…. Even in his home town He could not do many mighty works due to their unbelief.  And yet the Roman Commander got his servant healed at home in his death bed by his faith.

As for God’s Truth,  it is always the same yet ever expanding as a gift from God if we will accept it.  Jesus came as the epitome of God’s Truth to set us free.  It took 4,000 years of time,  here and a line there a line, Isa.28,   for God to use the Prophets to build a foundation that we could explore and validate as HIS Truth.  Which by the way, also sets us free.  Free from the Adamic curse of the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life, if we will accept it.  It is by the great and precious promises of God finding root in our heart by faith that we are spiritually born again from above through the Holy Spirit and can grow up to be like Christ Jesus.  And that is God’s original vision in our creation, Read the 1st chapter of Genesis in the Amplified.   That was the original plan for man.  But Adam caused a breach in the plan through his pride and rebellion..  However, God still made it possible for us to be forgiven and restored to the original plan and vision if we are up for it.  Our heavenly creator has absolute foreknowledge.  He knew that we would need to learn hose to use our freewill and that we would need testing for us to find out where we were.  But HE already knows, from HIS dimension, those who will be HIS elect.  Even though we do not know as we are still locked into this temporary dimension of time.  Our Heavenly Father knew that Jesus would prevail and undo the damage that lucifer and Adam had done.  And in time we would gain the victory through Christ Jesus as Lord and learn how to use our freewill effectively for good.  We would also learn about Faith which is the basic substance of all of the matter in the universe.


In the Beginning little changed from Adam to Abraham in society.  ( I including Noah,  Even with the reboot, still little change.) God revealed HIS power and mostly man just ignored it.  And from Abraham to Jesus also very little changed only God made know HIS will and HIS holiness.  And again man mostly perverted it..  And now from the 1st and 2nd advent of Jesus,  little little has changed in the message of redemption now for 2,000 years.  But very few seem to be interested in the change that God would like us to make in our lives.   And with the millennium Kingdom of Christ Jesus it is 1,000 yrs of real PEACE.  After 7,000 years, a New Start, totally new ball game.  God has a family of obedient peaceful children who know how to use freewill in a very positive manner.  A family that wants to love and please HIM above all else.  That totally submits to HIM because they completely trust and love HIM for who HE is with no fear at all.

1.    God reveals HIS Power.  2,000 yrs.
2.    God Teaches Faith,  Abraham the father of Faith.   2,000 yrs.
3.    God’s Restoration through faith in Christ Jesus as LORD.    2,000 yrs.
4.    God’s total Victory in the Kingdom of Christ Jesus.   1,000 yrs.
End of the dimension of TIME and the placenta that gave birth to the Body of Christ.
5.    God’s New heavens and new earth of righteousness where we have been invited to live.

Some call this dispensations.  Seems to me it is more like the completion of the Family of God.  A totally New ball Game…..   The way I see it….   The completion of the vision of God to make man in HIS Image and likeness. And also the removal of the temporary dimension of time with the rebuilding of our solar system to become the house of GOD and Family in a totally new dimension,  1 Cor. 13.  This what I see in the Bible through the prophets.

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance (aphesis) to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty (aphesis) them that are bruised,  The Greek word ‘aphesis’ means forgiveness. But in this particular verse, it’s translated as both deliverance and liberty. Isn’t it interesting that deliverance and liberty are directly tied together with forgiveness?  One of the most effective tools the enemy uses to steal our joy is unforgiveness. With just a little foothold of unforgiveness in our lives, we can easily become bound with chains of bitterness, resentment, anger, and rage. So it appears that about 6,000 yrs. ago God started with a new species to be in HIS Image and Likeness.  And who so ever will come may drink of the waters of life freely.  So the changes that God want’s to make in us to be able to live with HIM starts with us understanding that the part of us that is eternal and  like God, has Freewill.  And we are here on planet earth to learn how to use our will productively and creatively.  Adam was tempted and  used his freewill destructively.  

So in the midst of Adams destruction God has still left us a choice between life or death.  So in Christ Jesus as LORD,  for this life time we have the opportunity to learn to how to use our freewill in a positive way through Christ Jesus as LORD with a new body, specially created for us by God, upon the day of resurrection.  God’s design purposes have not changed from the beginning of HIS creation.  And HE has left it totally up to us as to whether we choose light or darkness for eternity.

“…I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well…”  (Psalm 139:14, NIV)

Be Amazing
Life will try to make you feel as though you’re anything but amazing. Disappointments, betrayals, and rejection will try to steal your sense of value. You may feel ordinary, but because of your Maker, there’s something about you that makes you extremely valuable. You’re an original. You can’t get any more prestigious than that. If you’re going to recognize your value, you have to see yourself as amazing, as wonderful. It’s not because of who you are, but because of who made you. You have the fingerprints of God all over you.

All through the day, you need to remind yourself, “I am amazing. I am a masterpiece. I have been wonderfully made.” Don’t discount what God has created. Don’t go around feeling ordinary when in fact, you’re extraordinary. People may try to make you feel average. Are you going to believe what people say about you, or believe what God says about you and move up to the next level?

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You made me fearfully and wonderfully in a way that is amazing. Thank You that I am wonderful because I belong to You. I believe that nothing can hold me back from becoming the masterpiece that You created me to be. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Comments:
Really like this observation both for myself and then to also be reminded that we must use the same consideration for every other soul on planet earth, regardless of shape, form, color or creed.   That making judgment calls on other people is not up to us at all.  That is for God to do.   I am commanded to love them, I am commanded to even love those who hate and try to misuse me and to be good to them.  Like cherry blossoms and snow flakes we are all different and at the same time even though even look alike, we are unique.  Even twins have minor differences.  Each of us is an original.

So I am born into this world as a unique child of Adam including  his bent for pride and rebellion. This is due to the fact that Adam used his free will in rebellion against God.   And when he did he died inside to the Spirit of God.  He then lost his eternal state and became temporal and Adam’s generations were as we are now.  But right away God set in place HIS plan for redemption.  He clothed Adam and Eve with the skins of Alabamian and He set in motion the sacrifice of the lamb looking to the time that Jesus would come as the lamb of God.  So in Adam all Died, But in Christ Jesus all may live.  Christ Jesus in HIS resurrection restored the breath of life, the HOLY SPIRIT that had been lost due to the pride and rebellion of Adam.  This could be done due to HIS obedience to Father God.  So if we in humility come to Jesus as LORD and heart obey HIM then there is LIFE and LIFE ETERNAL restored to us as per GOD”s original design.  So we truly are Fearfully and Wonderfully made to potentially become in the very Image and Likeness of God.  We can exercise our freewill for life.

However, very few of us really want to become obedient and we even try to change God’s Word to accommodate our Pride and Rebellion.   First off we try to be saved and forget about the LORD part.   We want a get out of HELL free card that we can put under our side of the game board and the go ahead and play the game of life as we want to.  There are the Big Ten (Commandments) and the Seven Deadly that we mostly simple ignore.  Becoming a Christian as a True Child of God means to come under obedience to GOD…  You are only playing mind games if you seek to make Jesus your Savior but not your LORD.  Jesus taught on this, “Why call me LORD, LORD and do not the things that I say?”  And “ He that has my commandments and keeps them, he it is that love me.      I am the LORD thy God,      No other gods before me,  No graven images or likenesses,  Not take the LORD’s name in vain,   Remember the sabbath day,   Honor thy father and thy mother,  Thou shalt not kill,  Thou shalt not commit adultery,   Thou shalt not steal,  Thou shalt not bear false witness,  Thou shalt not covet. + 7  deadly Sins, So take a look and this is just the Old Testament, Jesus added a lot more commandments in the New Testament.  And of course if you don’t know it is wrong you will be still be held accountable anyway for not wanting to know.   To take the Lord’s name in vain it is more like telling folks that God said something that He did not tell them to say.  I hear so-called Christians say, “God said this and that, all the time.” that does not come to pass.  A stoning affiance in the Old Testament.

“…Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms…”  (1 Peter 4:10, NIV)

Titles Not Required
Too often we pursue titles and positions, thinking we’ll feel good about ourselves when we have them. “When I make it to sales manager, when I get on the varsity cheer leading squad, when I’m the head usher, the senior partner, the lead supervisor…” That’s fine. But you don’t need a title to do what God has called you to do. Don’t wait for people to approve you, affirm you, or validate you. Use your gift, and the title will come.

If David would have waited for a title, we wouldn’t be talking about him today. When he went out to face Goliath, David wasn’t a general, a corporal, or a sergeant. He wasn’t even enlisted. He didn’t have a title, a name badge, a uniform, or a single credential. He went out knowing God had called and given him the gift to defeat Goliath. In a few years they gave him a title: King of Israel.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for the gift that You have given me and for what You have called me to do. Thank You that I can just be the best that I can be with what I have, and You will take care of the rest. I believe that You will receive the glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Comments:
Good Teaching and great history concerning David.  Even his whole life story gives us a whole lot to think about concerning both the valley’s and mountain tops.  

As to gifts, it seems to me that some are built in at conception and others can be imparted in faith by family, friends and elders.  But either way those gifts can be used to be constructive or destructive.  The choice is ours.  I remember at one point in scripture where Paul’s says, “Being Crafty, I caught you.”  Yes and I can see what Paul was sharing there.  He was very effective in persecuting Christians and after his conversion to sharing the Gospel.  I suspect that is why he caused so much rage with the Jewish leaders.  At one time he was one of the Good Old Boys.  Next day they could not hold their ground with the scriptures to protect their turf.  That is why he was always getting beat, whipped or stoned….They ran out of words.

When a Boy in L.A.  I won 2nd place in all of L.A. Country in selling a little booklet called Woman’s Magazine from door to door after school each day, knocking on doors.  I was a handsome kid with a gift of gab and made my pocket money that way.   Billy Graham had a similar gift and could have sold a lot of used cars but dedicated his gift to Jesus and the Gospel.   It was unfortunate that the Church did not have the basket for all the fruit.

In ministry I often ask folks what it is that they like to do.   Usually that will give me an indication of their spiritual gifting to be encouraged.  Now what are the Gifts of the Spirit?  And how do they work?  And for what purposes?  This is a very important 4 pages…..

Now about the spiritual gifts [the special endowments given by the Holy Spirit], brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. 2 You know that when you were pagans, you were led off after speechless idols; however you were led off [whether by impulse or habit]. 3 Therefore I want you to know that no one speaking by the [power and influence of the] Spirit of God can say, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is [my] Lord,” except by [the power and influence of] the Holy Spirit.   4 Now there are [distinctive] varieties of spiritual gifts [special abilities given by the grace and extraordinary power of the Holy Spirit operating in believers], but it is the same Spirit [who grants them and empowers believers]. 5 And there are [distinctive] varieties of ministries and service, but it is the same Lord [who is served]. 6 And there are [distinctive] ways of working [to accomplish things], but it is the same God who produces all things in all believers [inspiring, energizing, and empowering them]. 7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit [the spiritual illumination and the enabling of the Holy Spirit] for the common good. 8 To one is given through the [Holy] Spirit [the power to speak] the message of wisdom, and to another [the power to express] the word of knowledge and understanding according to the same Spirit; 9 to another [wonder-working] faith [is given] by the same [Holy] Spirit, and to another the [extraordinary] gifts of healings by the one Spirit; 10 and to another the working of [a] miracles, and to another prophecy [foretelling the future, speaking a new message from God to the people], and to another discernment of spirits [the ability to distinguish sound, godly doctrine from the deceptive doctrine of man-made religions and cults], to another various kinds of [unknown] tongues, and to another interpretation of tongues. 11 All these things [the gifts, the achievements, the abilities, the empowering] are brought about by one and the same [Holy] Spirit, distributing to each one individually just as He chooses. 
1 Cor. 12: 1-11

12 For just as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts, though many, form [only] one body, so [b] it is with Christ. 13 For by one [Holy] Spirit we were all baptized into one body, [spiritually transformed—united together] whether Jews or Greeks (Gentiles), slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one [Holy] Spirit [since the same Holy Spirit fills each life].  14 For the [human] body does not consist of one part, but of many [limbs and organs]. 15 If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” is it not on the contrary still a part of the body? 16 If the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” is it not on the contrary still a part of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole [body] were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But now [as things really are], God has placed and arranged the parts in the body, each one of them, just as He willed and saw fit [with the best balance of function]. 19 If they all were a single organ, where would [the rest of] the body be? 20 But now [as things really are] there are many parts [different limbs and organs], but a single body. 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 But quite the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are [absolutely] necessary; 23 and as for those parts of the body which we consider less honorable, these we treat with greater honor; and our less presentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24 while our more presentable parts do not require it. But God has combined the [whole] body, giving greater honor to that part which lacks it, 25 so that there would be no division or discord in the body [that is, lack of adaptation of the parts to each other], but that the parts may have the same concern for one another. 26 And if one member suffers, all the parts share the suffering; if one member is honored, all rejoice with it.  27 Now you [collectively] are Christ’s body, and individually [you are] members of it [each with his own special purpose and function]. 28 So God has appointed and placed in the church [for His own use]: first apostles [chosen by Christ], second prophets [those who foretell the future, those who speak a new message from God to the people], third teachers, then those who work miracles, then those with the gifts of healings, the helpers, the administrators, and speakers in various kinds of [unknown] tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But earnestly desire and strive for the greater gifts [if acquiring them is going to be your goal].

 And [His gifts to the church were varied and] He Himself appointed some as apostles [special messengers, representatives], some as prophets [who speak a new message from God to the people], some as evangelists [who spread the good news of salvation], and some as pastors and teachers [to shepherd and guide and instruct], 12 [and He did this] to fully equip and perfect the saints (God’s people) for works of service, to build up the body of Christ [the church]; 13 until we all reach oneness in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, [growing spiritually] to become a mature believer, reaching to the measure of the fullness of Christ [manifesting His spiritual completeness and exercising our spiritual gifts in unity]. 14 So that we are no longer children [spiritually immature], tossed back and forth [like ships on a stormy sea] and carried about by every wind of [shifting] doctrine, by the cunning and trickery of [unscrupulous] men, by the deceitful scheming of people ready to do anything [for personal profit].   Eph 4:11-16.

 Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to use them accordingly: if [someone has the gift of] prophecy, [let him speak a new message from God to His people] in proportion to the faith possessed; 7 if service, in the act of serving; or he who teaches, in the act of teaching; 8 or he who encourages, in the act of encouragement; he who gives, with generosity; he who leads, [d] with diligence; he who shows mercy [in caring for others], with cheerfulness.  Rom.12:6-8

So the Gifting or empowering of the Holy Spirit not only helps folks experience Jesus as LORD but also builds the body of Christ Jesus, HIS Church.  If it lifts up Jesus, probably the gift is from GOD.   If it lifts up a personal Ego or Guru best take another look.  Might just be another little box for using your energy to elevate some one else’s spiritual pride.  If no sign of God’s Power, go somewhere else Paul teaches that in 2 Tim.3:5.  holding to a form of [outward] godliness (religion), although they have denied its power [for their conduct nullifies their claim of faith]. Avoid such people and keep far away from them.

And actually in finding and maturing and walking in your Gifts of the Spirit is where the Joy is in walking with Jesus in HIS Kingdom.  Without the gifts being matured I tried for 13 years after becoming a Christian to help save the lost and helped out only one.  In 1968 after I was baptized in the Holy Spirit, I enjoyed picking fruit all the time.  And still at it now at near 88 even last night until about 10 PM in my study.
