RESPONSIBILITY,    “WORTH CONSIDERING”   4/9/20

Today’s Scripture   (Across my emails this morning from Texas.)
“…And he said to them, “Pick me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will become calm for you. For I know that this great tempest is because of me.”  (Jonah 1:12, NKJV)

Take Responsibility
After God told the prophet Jonah to go preach to the city of Nineveh, he refused and got on a ship headed in the opposite direction. So the Lord sent a violent storm that threatened to break the ship apart. God knows how to get our attention. When you know you’re going the wrong way, things start to fall apart. You can’t pray away the winds because you’re the reason for the storm. God loves you too much to let you miss your destiny. Fortunately, when confronted by the sailors, Jonah admitted, “I’m the cause.” Taking responsibility is the first step to victory.

As long as you make excuses for what you know is wrong in your life, the difficulties are going to continue year after year. God asks you to deal with any areas of compromise. He wants to grow you up. He has some Nineveh’s for you to go to,  people for you to impact, and new levels of your destiny.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You love me too much to let me miss my destiny. Thank You that You give me second chances when I go the wrong way. I choose to take responsibility and deal with whatever holds me back from the next level of my destiny. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Thoughts:
The story of Jonah was always a story that caught my attention.  Of course my school taught that it was impossible for a whale to swallow anything as big as a man.  And then someone taught that the scripture really says that God prepared a giant fish?  And then someone else came along with the possibility of a shark whale and by that time the essence of the story was lost in the FISH details.   And you will find a lot of folks that get seriously lost in the details and go do something else with their time.  So much so that they get lost in the world’s system of stuff and lusts of Adam.  It is so easy to miss out on the true meaning for our existence on planet earth.   Even Jonah did not see it  clearly.  After he did in final obedience warn Nineveh and they heard his message and repented he was disappointed concerning God’s love and benevolence.  He had more compassion for his shade than for the whole city.    And sorry to say, it seems that most folks today, who call themselves Christian,  seem to be in the same boat.   They have more loving care for their cat or dog than even members of their own family.  Family members who may be hurting and lost as unrepentant Nineveh.  Perhaps like the blog from Texas, perhaps you are a Jonah Christian and have found some phoney excuse not to share God’s wonderful plan of redemption with those of your family?

Like Jesus said, he did not, this time, come to bring peace but a sword.  That HE would begin the process of dividing the darkness from the light.   And that HIS Truth and Light would even divide families.   My parents, not once, ever tried to share with me the Gospel, even though they both considered themselves to be Christian.   My grandmother was an L.D.S. Mormon.  Her kids, my great aunts, tried to make me a Mormon but their Jesus was not the same Jesus of the Bible, John 8:24, 28, 58,  the Word of God spoke through Jesus clearly as the I AM who made all things and gave Moses the 10 commandments.  So the Mormon Jesus and the Bible Jesus are not the same.  In fact in John 8:24 Jesus clearly states:

24 That is why I told you that you will die in (under the curse of) your sins; for if you do not believe that I am (He )[Whom I claim to be—if you do not adhere to, trust in, and rely on Me ], you will die in your sins.  And even the translators did not understand what Jesus was saying as they added the word (He) that is not in the Greek so that it should have read:

24 That is why I told you that you will die in (under the curse of) your sins; for if you do not believe that I AM  [Whom I claim to be—if you do not adhere to, trust in, and rely on Me], you will die in your sins.  (Which is also in context with the other two places in John 8 where I AM is mentioned.  John 8:24, 28, & 58.)

So the Devil is truly in the details and you have thousands of Mormons on the wrong road as they believe that Christ Jesus is an angel created by God rather than God the Creator. And it seems to me that many who believe that they are safe and Christian are not.  They are not as they have not really come to a place of humility and obedience in their lives in making Christ Jesus, LORD,

Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  10 For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.  11 The Scripture says, No man who believes in Him [who adheres to, relies on, and trusts in Him] will [ever] be put to shame or be disappointed.  12 [No one] for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek. The same Lord is Lord over all [of us] and He generously bestows His riches upon all who call upon Him [in faith].  13 For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord [invoking Him as Lord] will be saved.  14 But how are people to call upon Him Whom they have not believed [in Whom they have no faith, on Whom they have no reliance]? And how are they to believe in Him [adhere to, trust in, and rely upon Him] of Whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher?    Romans 10:9-10….AMPC

I like the Amplified Bible here as the Translation indicates that the word believe has much deeper and more profound commitment levels in the Greek than the English.  The word really means like sitting in a chair, if it goes down, you would go down with it.  It means a lot more than Sunday morning pew polishing or “if I feel like it” Really you really can end up in hell for fornication or adultery and other stuff.  Read Rev. 22 if you don’t believe me….  Only in  Love, humility,  faith  and obedience can any one ever hope to gain entrance into the eternal Celestial City of God.

Today’s Scripture     (Across my emails this morning from Texas.)
“…But godliness with contentment is great gain.”  (1 Tim. 6:6, NIV)

Always Be Your Best
After David had been anointed to be the next king of Israel, he spent years taking care of his father’s sheep. David could have thought, God, what am I doing stuck with a bunch of sheep? But David knew that God was in control, so he just kept going to work with a good attitude, grateful for where he was. Because he was content in the shepherds’ fields, he made it to the throne. He passed that test. But if you’re not content in the season you’re in, even if your dreams do come to pass, you won’t be satisfied. Discontentment will follow you everywhere you go.  You have to train your mind to be thankful and satisfied with where God has you right now. Be content whether you have a lot or not. Content whether your children are in diapers or in college. Content whether you’re in maintenance or management. Pass the tests on your way to the throne.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that I can come to You with thanksgiving for all the circumstances in my life. Help me to always see the good and to be grateful for what I have now. I choose to enjoy the season I am in and not just endure it. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Thoughts,
Long ago I remember a TV interview between a lovely lady and J. Paul Getty, then the richest man in the U.S. and perhaps world.   They had be going through acres and acres of climate controlled warehouse space protecting the antiques from around the world that Mr. Getty had been collecting.      On the steps as she was leaving Mr. Getty, she had just one more question.  She asked him, “Mr Getty, Just how much will it take to make you happy?”   And he gently smiled and replied, “Just a little bit more.”   Like the old joke, “He who dies with the most toys, wins.”

In the Holy Scriptures we find Jesus teaching on these thoughts.   And He said to them, Guard yourselves and keep free from all covetousness (the immoderate desire for wealth, the greedy longing to have more); for a man’s life does not consist in and is not derived from possessing [a] overflowing abundance or that which is [b] over and above his needs.  Luke 12:15 AMPC

Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] Heb. 13:5

It is not until the middle of the Great Tribulation that the victory over the whole kingdom is won.   The seventh angel then blew [his] trumpet, and there were mighty voices in heaven, shouting, The dominion (kingdom, sovereignty, rule) of the world has now come into the possession and become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ (the Messiah), and He shall reign forever and ever (for the eternities of the eternities)!  Rev. 11:15.  So really, You can only keep what you send ahead.  So we will be on the stuff and things battle field until then and then we will be wondering why we gave stuff any consideration or time at all.

But there is a balance here.            (Maggie asked me for some story time,  Aloha Maggie.)
I remember, long ago preaching to a large assembly on Matt.5:39-44 and was really in the Spirit and having a great time.   About that time I also had a 1968 Chevy Van that I converted into a camper and was using it every day for the family and ministry.   So that Monday morning after the Sat. Fellowship this youthful hippy kid, no shirt, long hair, long time between baths sauntered up to me.  And said, Pastor or Kahu?  “I really enjoyed your message on Sat. evening.  Did you really mean all of that stuff.”  Of course, it is God’s Word, I needed to back it up and said, “Yes, Every Word…”   And he quickly changed the subject to my van which was right there.  And he started giving me the story that he was homeless and no wheels and having a very difficult time surviving. “   And he ended it up by saying” and God told me that I could have your Chevy Van if I came and asked you for it, like the coat you were  preaching about.”   About that time all of the alarms went off in my head, “This kid is after MY! Van, LORD!!!!   So I prayed for a moment silently and then ask him to excuse me, I needed to go pray.   So I went out alone on the West side of the Old Stone (topless, so called, no roof) Church and began to offer up one of those “HELP” kind of prayers….  Knowing that I had squarely been had or caught with my good preaching of the LORD’s TRUTH.   So I not as much got the words out of my mouth and the word of the Lord came to me in my heart, simply, lovingly “Whose Van is it?”   And I quickly thought, O’ O’, there goes the Van.  And I said, LORD, you know that I belong to you and everything I have belongs to you, It is your Van!”   He very quickly answered, “GOOD, don’t give it to him.”   I could have been pushed over with a straw.   So I returned to the Kid and said, “Well I went and talked to my boss, and HE said not to give it to you.”  “Seem you boss and my Boss are not the same.”   He quickly turned around and took off south down Alii Dr.  I look back and think?  “I wonder, if I has said, it was mine, if the outcome would have been different.  With the rich young ruler, Jesus told him to give it all away.  But with the Rich man Joseph, HE only asked to borrow his tomb for 3 days.

So our primary focus as a Christian is to get so we can clearly know the voice of the Holy Spirit in our heart better than any of the other voices.  In the Bible each tread of truth can be woven together to make a fine filter of God’s Word so that the Word of God becomes our Kingdom constitution to keep the junk out and our road map clean to the Celestial City.  So in life as we are guided by the Logos (Scriptures) and with the Rhema (Anointing) so we can stay out of trouble and in the Joy & peace of the LORD and grow into becoming like Jesus.  We have been invited to join in on a pilgrimage of leaving being the children of Adam to becoming the Children of God.  Sounds a lot better to me than the antique collecting of J Paul Getty.  Read The Revelation chapters 21 & 22  What an invitation!!!!

Be in prayer for us, YWAM closed down due to Covin-19 and sent everyone home.   But one young man Jonathan from Southern India got stranded so we took him in.  Last week he came down with a very bad sore throat so we took him in for the test, know tomorrow or Friday.  If positive all 5 of us would be totally quarantined for 2 weeks.   And for 3 of us it could be critical.

SOWING & REAPING

ALOHA FAMILY & FRIENDS,  Beloved of God,   John 3:16-18

SOWING & REAPING,   “WORTH CONSIDERING”   4/7/20,

Today’s Scripture             (In my mailbox this morning and a good reminder from Texas.)
“…When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the LORD blessed him…”  (Genesis 26:12, NLT)

Amaze the Critics
During a great famine in the land, Isaac was about to move to Egypt, but God said, “Stay where you are. My favor is on you right here among the Philistines.” So despite the famine, Isaac planted his grain fields. The Philistines were already jealous of him, and his planting in dry, hard soil added to their ridicule of him. But Isaac stayed in peace. Several months later, his critics were amazed to see his hundredfold harvest.

At some point, you may be tempted to run from a situation where you face ridicule and opposition, but you do not have to leave in order to be blessed. God wants to bless you right where you are. Part of His vindication is promoting you so the opposition can see it. Your attitude should be: “They may be laughing now, but this challenge is preparing the way for God to bless me!” God is faithful.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for the promise to bless me right where I am, even when I face opposition and ridicule. I believe that You will multiply me even in the midst of famine. I receive Your peace and rest knowing that You are faithful and will bring blessing. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Thoughts:
And this is true of what ever you plant physically or emotionally or spiritually.  Sowing and Reaping is a universal cosmic law of God’s Universe.  So if you are under God’s blessing what ever good you plant will bring a good harvest.
So we should plant out of our needs, not our abundance.     Paul shared it this way: Romans 8: 8-14 AMP

So then those who are living the life of the flesh [catering to the appetites and impulses of their carnal nature] cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him.  9 But you are not living the life of the flesh, you are living the life of the Spirit, if the [Holy] Spirit of God [really] dwells within you [directs and controls you]. But if anyone does not possess the [Holy] Spirit of Christ, he is none of His [he does not belong to Christ, is not truly a child of God].  10 But if Christ lives in you, [then although] your [natural] body is dead by reason of sin and guilt, the spirit is alive because of [the] righteousness [that He imputes to you].  11 And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you.  12 So then, brethren, we are debtors, but not to the flesh [we are not obligated to our carnal nature], to live [a life ruled by the standards set up by the dictates] of the flesh.  13 For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever.  14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

“They who sow in tears shall reap in joy and singing.  6 He who goes forth bearing seed and weeping [at needing his precious supply of grain for sowing] shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.”  Psalms 126:5-6

“These six things the Lord hates, indeed, seven are an abomination to Him:  17 A proud look [the spirit that makes one overestimate himself and underestimate others], a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,  18 A heart that manufactures wicked thoughts and plans, feet that are swift in running to evil,  19 A false witness who breathes out lies [even under oath], and he who sows discord among his brethren.  20 My son, keep your father’s [God-given] commandment and forsake not the law of [God] your mother [taught you].’  Proverbs 6A:16-20

“For as [surely as] the earth brings forth its shoots, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to spring forth, so [surely] the Lord God will cause rightness and justice and praise to spring forth before all the nations [through the self-fulfilling power of His word].”  Isa. 61:11

“I will hiss for them [as the keeper does for his bees] and gather them in, for I have redeemed them, and they shall increase [again] as they have increased [before, in Egypt].  9 And though I sow them among the nations, yet they shall [earnestly] remember Me in far countries, and with their children they shall live and shall return [to God and the land He gave them].  10 I will bring them [all Israel] home again from the land of Egypt and gather them out of Assyria, and I will bring them into the land [on the east and on the west of the Jordan, into] Gilead and Lebanon, and room enough shall not be found for them.”  (Israel) Zechariah 10:8-10

Christian News in Brief  worthybrief@worthynetwork.com
According to a recent survey, 43.4% of American adults believe the coronavirus crisis is a wake-up call for the US to return to God. Nearly three-in-ten respondents (29.4%) said they think the outbreak and subsequent financial devastation are signs of the Biblical “Last Days.” The poll was conducted for the Joshua Fund (JF), a major             US Christian charity.Christians across America drove to hospitals last week to pray for medical staff and coronavirus patients. States involved in the “park and pray” initiative included Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, Louisiana, and Florida. Those who attended the prayer gatherings were instructed to practice social distancing so as not to risk spreading the virus.      Iran has released a Christian woman who was jailed after refusing to reconvert to Islam, activists confirmed to Worthy News. Rokhsareh (Mahrokh) Ghanbari, 62, is among some 85,000 prisoners freed in recent weeks amid concerns about the spread of the new coronavirus COVID-19.      In an amendment to his March 19 executive order on limiting the spread of coronavirus, the Governor of Texas has decreed that attending “religious services conducted in churches, congregations, and houses of worship” is as important as shopping for food or going to medical appointments. The executive amendment came into effect on April 2.      Rabbis in Israel are pointing to a portentous sign occurring on three major Jewish holidays this year as an indication that redemption and the construction of a third temple are imminent.

FREEWILL,    “WORTH CONSIDERING”
  4/6/20   from Ken<><

Today’s Scripture  (1 Peter 2:9, NIV)    (Found in my email this morning.)
“…But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

Be Uncommon
We are living in a day where it’s acceptable to compromise standards, to take the easy way out and not have integrity, to do what everybody else is doing, to go where everybody else goes, to think like everyone else thinks. It’s common. Complainers and compromisers are a dime a dozen. It’s normal. But God did not create you to be common.

God is looking for uncommon people. People who have uncommon faith, who believe for things that seem impossible. People who have uncommon commitment, who do the right thing when it’s hard. People who have an uncommon attitude that’s positive when everyone else is negative. People who have uncommon integrity, who do not give in to temptation but do what they know is best. When you make this decision to not fit in, to not do what everyone else is doing, but to be uncommon, you will see uncommon favor, uncommon strength, uncommon friendships, uncommon increase. God rewards uncommon.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for setting me apart to be Your special possession, to be one of Your chosen ones, to be uncommon. Thank You that I don’t have to let society squeeze me into its mold. I want my life to stand out as one who brings You praise. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Thoughts,
Great word today, each one of us is uniquely designed with gifts for a creative purpose in the foreknowledge and predestination of God.  All that is needed is for us to set our freewill in humility and obedience in wanting to hear HIS voice and learn how to become obedient.  As the children of Adam we were born spiritually dead and we can also choose to remain dead in sins and trespasses if we want to.  To change from being a child of Adam to being a child of God is a life long decision but the sooner we make that decision the more time we can have to help others find their way as well.  There is an open door that our loving Creator has set before us to explore HIS Kingdom and how real faith in love works.  To learn to love as God loves requires absolute freewill as love is always a choice.  Therefore even our salvation is an eternal choice for us.  The choice to either live in the light with God or the darkness without God.

And remember, fear is faith going backwards so don’t get caught up in the virus fear all around us.  Be careful and wise but not fearful.  God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love and a calm, well balanced and disciplined mind.  2 Tim. 1:7…  AMP

CHURCH

ALOHA FAMILY & FRIENDS

CHURCH,    “WORTH CONSIDERING”    4/5/20
In one week comes the day on which we,  as Christians,  usually celebrate the resurrection of Christ Jesus,  Man made God,  day.  And the day to remind us that in Christ Jesus our sins are forgiven and our sinful past is forgotten.  But then there is this little bitty bug that is keeping us from getting together due to a death threat especially for the old guys like me.

But then the Holy Spirit asked me to write this note to you and remind you that church was not about big gatherings.  The word Church really mean:  Latin ecclesia, from Greek ekklesia, where the word is a compound of two segments: “ek”, a preposition meaning “out of”, and a verb, “kaleo”, signifying “to call” – together, literally, “to call out”. Although that usage soon passed away and was replaced with “assembly, congregation, council”, or “convocation”.

So originally, in the Greek, the word Church meant to be called out of.    In the Early Church it meant to be called out of the world or the Worlds system of Adam as fallen and cursed of God.  Called out of the world of the dead and fallen ones.  Church was to be a place to learn how to live in the Kingdom of God in righteousness and numbers were totally unimportant.   In fact,  Christ Jesus teaches us in Matt.18:20 that HIS Church can easily consist of 2 or 3….”Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be[a] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[b] loosed in heaven.  19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

So actually, if you can find one other person to join with you,  you can go to church.  And really the word Church relates to a relationship with Jesus and not with a building or a denomination.  The Word Church really has to do with there being but one universal church with many small gatherings as noted being in a place as in Rom.16:1, 1 Cor.1:2, 1 Cor.16:19.  And the early Church was located in a home or house.  If it outgrew the house then another house church would be created.  Offerings were then used for evangelism and to help the poor.  So the Churches of The Church were noted usually as the Church being at a place or in someone’s home.  It was never used to note a building.

OK so the place nor do the numbers mean anything.  So what form of did the gathering take and when?   Usually the Early Church gathered on Saturday evenings at sunset.  It was the only real time of freedom that the Jewish folks had at that time.  And there was total freedom in going from house to house for the ‘Lords” supper, Acts 2:46

SO WHEN THEY CAME TOGETHER, WHAT DID THEY DO?

It is very interesting to me that Acts clealy sets out the order of service for the Early Church. Acts 2:41-44 “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.  42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.  43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.  44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

This is an overlay for the Tabernacle of Moses in the wilderness.

2.    The Word of God, The place of sacrificek, THE ALTER,
3.     The fellowship love feast, Agape Meal, THE LAVER.
4.     Breaking of Bread, Lord’s Supper, THE SHOW BREAD
5.     Time of Prayer and Healing, THE INCENSE BURNER.
6     Body Life Ministry, 7 Spirits of God,   THE MENORAH
7     Power of God for Healing,   ‘The Ark of God in the HOLY PLACE

For a better understanding of the Early Church gathering for a “House Church” please take time to consider the link in a chapter of my book, “Key To The Kingdom.”   https://trinity-aloha.org/keys-to-the-kingdom/house-church/

I am not sure that the Early Church covered all 7 steps each week but it certainly seems that they mostly followed this pattern in their gathering.  And it was very effective in gaining new converts.  Demos of the FGBMFI followed this pattern and it was very effective in that ministry in the revival of the 1960-70.  Also you will perhaps find other chapters of interest in my book as well.   It is all available on the Internet.

So take some time today and reconsider “CHURCH” as in the original concept.  You might even gather your family together for exploring the concept of “House Church” or Church in the HOME.  Perhaps the virus will even help us to recover a closer walk with our Lord, Christ Jesus.

Paul writes about The Early Church liturgy in 1 Cor.14:23-32 and teaches this:
Therefore, if the whole church assembles and all of you speak in [unknown] tongues, and the ungifted and uninitiated or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are demented?  24 But if all prophesy [giving inspired testimony and interpreting the divine will and purpose] and an unbeliever or untaught outsider comes in, he is told of his sin and reproved and convicted and convinced by all, and his defects and needs are examined (estimated, determined) and he is called to account by all,  25 The secrets of his heart are laid bare; and so, falling on [his] face, he will worship God, declaring that God is among you in very truth.  26 What then, brethren, is [the right course]? When you meet together, each one has a hymn, a teaching, a disclosure of special knowledge or information, an utterance in a [strange] tongue, or an interpretation of it. [But] let everything be constructive and edifying and for the good of all.  27 If some speak in a [strange] tongue, let the number be limited to two or at the most three, and each one [taking his] turn, and let one interpret and explain [what is said].  28 But if there is no one to do the interpreting, let each of them keep still in church and talk to himself and to God.  29 So let two or three prophets speak [those inspired to preach or teach], while the rest pay attention and weigh and discern what is said.  30 But if an inspired revelation comes to another who is sitting by, then let the first one be silent.  31 For in this way you can give testimony [prophesying and thus interpreting the divine will and purpose] one by one, so that all may be instructed and all may be stimulated and encouraged;  32 For the spirits of the prophets (the speakers in tongues) are under the speaker’s control [and subject to being silenced as may be necessary],

LOVE/HATE,   “WORTH CONSIDERING”   4/3/20     Ken Smith,   www.Trinity-Aloha.org

Today’s Scripture     (In my emails this morning.)
“…Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”  (Luke 6:27–28, NIV)

Why Bless Those Who Hurt You?
It’s easy to be good to people who are good to us. But what about when someone does something deliberately to hurt you? It’s easy to get bitter, hold a grudge, talk bad about them, and think about how you can get even with them.

Why would Jesus say that we should bless and do good to those who hurt us when they don’t deserve it? Because you’re not blessing them for their sake, but for your sake. The mercy and kindness you show others is the mercy God’s going to show you. If you’re bitter and angry, you’ll get stuck. Life is too short to go through it with bitterness poisoning your life. If you’ll let go of the hurt they inflicted and live out of a place of forgiveness, out of a place of wholeness, you’ll not only feel better, but that’s what allows the Creator of the universe to go to work and take you higher.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for all the mercy and forgiveness and protection You have shown me when I’ve done wrong. Help me to do good and bless those who have done me wrong. I am leaving them in Your hands and believing that You are taking me to new levels. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Thoughts,
This is a tough idea to go with.  In our Adamic nature, our thoughts, are eye for eye and tooth for tooth.   And of course the end of that concept is that no one can see or eat.  Action and reaction.  One time I had the opportunity to meet and talk with Pat Morita who played Miyagi in The Karate Kid and especially I remember his humility.  One of the favorite lines I remember was “No be there” concerning dealing with aggression.  Basically that is what happens to us as a Christian when we are more concerned about the souls of others and bringing them to Christ than we are about our selves.   By faith, real faith, we begin the transition of really living in HIS KINGDOM of righteousness while we are still living in this temporary body.

Jesus was being nailed to the Cross and was more concerned about the souls of those driving the spikes into HIS feet that HE was about the pain that I am sure was intense.   He was hanging and dying on the cross and HE was more concerned that John take the responsibility for HIS mother.   And in HIS suffering he even was gracious in providing the way of salvation to a thief beside HIM.  Obviously HE, by faith, was already in a totally different world.  HIS seven last words were profound.   And from HIS birth through HIS life and death HE became our example.   He came to give us the example of how to live in the Spirit under all circumstances and conditions.   For the scriptures tell us that though being the Son of Man he was able, through the Spirit, to have a complete victory over sin.  And HE also gives us an example that we too, in following HIS example, can learn how to have absolute victory over sin as HE did.  That HE has set us free in HIM and given us the Holy Spirit to give us the same power that HE did if we will make room for HIM.  That means a total house cleaning from the darkness and to invite the Holy Spirit to fill every cell of our body as well as the thoughts of our mind and heart.

John, the apostle closest to Christ Jesus had this to say about it:
“And this is the message [the message of [g] promise] which we have heard from Him and now are reporting to you: God is Light, and there is no darkness in Him at all [[h] no, not in any way].  6 [So] if we say we are partakers together and enjoy fellowship with Him when we live and move and are walking about in darkness, we are [both] speaking falsely and do not live and practice the Truth [which the Gospel presents].  7 But if we [really] are living and walking in the Light, as He [Himself] is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses (removes) us from all sin and guilt [keeps us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].  8 If we say we have no sin [refusing to admit that we are sinners], we delude and lead ourselves astray, and the Truth [which the Gospel presents] is not in us [does not dwell in our hearts].  9 If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].  10 If we say (claim) we have not sinned, we contradict His Word and make Him out to be false and a liar, and His Word is not in us [the divine message of the Gospel is not in our hearts].  1John1:6-9….  And everyone who has this hope [resting] on Him cleanses (purifies) himself just as He is pure (chaste, undefiled, guiltless).  4 Everyone who commits (practices) sin is guilty of lawlessness; for [that is what] sin is, lawlessness (the breaking, violating of God’s law by transgression or neglect—being unrestrained and unregulated by His commands and His will).  5 You know that He appeared in visible form and became Man to take away [upon Himself] sins, and in Him there is no sin [[d]essentially and forever].  6 No one who abides in Him [who lives and remains [e]in communion with and in obedience to Him—deliberately, knowingly, and [f]habitually] commits (practices) sin. No one who [habitually] sins has either seen or known Him [recognized, perceived, or understood Him, or has had an experiential acquaintance with Him].  7 [g] Boys (lads), let no one deceive and lead you astray. He who practices righteousness [who is upright, conforming to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action, living a consistently conscientious life] is righteous, even as He is righteous.  8 [But] he who commits sin [who practices evildoing] is of the devil [takes his character from the evil one], for the devil has sinned (violated the divine law) from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done].  9 No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and [h]habitually] practices sin, for God’s nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God.  10 By this it is made clear who take their nature from God and are His children and who take their nature from the devil and are his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform to God’s will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love his brother (his fellow [I] believer in Christ).  1 John 3:3-   AMP

PRAYER

ALOHA FAMILY AND FRIENDS,  Beloved of God and me,   John 3:16-18

PRAYER   “WORTH CONSIDERING”   4/2/30,   From Ken Smith

Today’s Scripture     (Found in my mail box this morning for Texas.)
“…O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear; and in the night season, and am not silent.”  (Psalm 22:2, NKJV)

Seasons of Silence
In 1 Kings 17, after the prophet Elijah had spoken the word of the Lord to wicked King Ahab, God told him to go hide by the Brook Cherith. Elijah wanted to continue to speak to the nation, but for the next three and half years, he experienced a season of silence and waiting before going on to perform many miracles.

We all have times when we’re praying, but our prayers aren’t being answered. We’re being our best, but not getting good breaks, the problem isn’t turning around. It seems as though God is on vacation. But the silence is not a sign that God is not working. He may not be changing the circumstances, but He is changing us. God uses the seasons of silence to prepare us, to develop our character. You’re gaining experience, maturity, and strength that you’ll need for where God is taking you. Don’t fight the silence. Keep being faithful, for your appointed time is on the way!

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for loving me so much that at times You hide me and cause me to be overlooked, keeping doors closed. Thank You that You love me so much that You’re getting me prepared to go where I’ve never gone. I will be faithful in the seasons of silence. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Thoughts,
And sometimes, the problem is just us….  We are just too busy to be interrupted by GOD.   I had to laugh at myself this morning.  For nearly a month I have been trying to get our dishwasher fixed.  And my wife, Sue, is justly upset as we do have an extra warranty on it.  But when I would call in for repairs they would tell me that I had no warranty.  And it seems that my receipt was lost after the last repairs.  Perhaps on the counter with all the trash was gathered up and tossed.   And it now takes forever to find a live person to talk to on the phone.   So today I realized that me knowing I was right and forging ahead was getting no where.  So in desperation I finally threw up a short, “I Need Help”  prayer.  Shortly thereafter the Lowe’s home offices found that they had placed the 3 yr. warranty for the dishwasher on the refer and had also found the 5 yr. warranty for the refer in the wrong place.  So in 15 minutes the LORD had the whole matter resolved with the repairs, under warranty, on the way.   Often we forget in our ego and pride and lack of humility to find ourselves in a DIY day and a total waste of time.   Seems to me that the Lord has given me more time than most because I am a very slow learner.  And HE does not seem to mind us bringing even the smallest things to HIM in finding a resolution.  And the important thing for us is to learn to really hear HIS voice above all of the other clatter.  I have always been amazed at how sure Abraham was in hearing the voice of GOD…..

I am in the middle of reading a book now by R.T. Kendall called “Word & Spirit”   “Truth, Power and the Next Great Move of God.”  It is hard to believe how much of God’s Truth is woven in between the covers of this book.  Looking for arsenic all the time but so far only finding confirmations and so well written that I could not do so myself.  I hope you go order the book asap for your own spiritual growth.  I will buy it back from you if you don’t find it spiritually refreshing.

Also there is that verse in the Bible that teaches us that when we really find our place in obedience before HIM that then HE will deal with the disobedience all around us.    .”..casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. 7 Do you look at things according to the outward appearance? If anyone is convinced in himself that he is Christ’s, let him again consider this in himself, that just as he is Christ’s, even [a] so we are Christ’s. “ 2 Cor.10:5-7   That is a difficult one to have faith for but it works.

Do a word study on perfect, perfecting and perfection, perfected and you will begin to see what our Heavenly Father expects of us in Christ Jesus as LORD.  Even Jesus went through the process of being perfected.   Jesus knew that HE would not be perfected until HIS resurrection.  And we are taught that if we endure to the end we will be saved.

Luke 13:32  32 And Jesus said to them, “Go, tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be [b] perfected.’  So for the Glory that was set before HIM Jesus even embraced the cross for us.  And HE knew full well what HE was doing as it was clearly set out in the Old Testament for the Savior, the Lamb of God.  Psalms 22 and Isa.53 gave HIM a clear picture of what to expect and HE did it anyway.

In Eph. 4:11, we are told that we would need the ministry of the Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers in order to be perfected…  Check it out.  If then we ( WE ) become perfected in the unity of John 17 then the world will see Jesus, high and lifted up and able to draw all men unto HIM.   But first the Holy Spirit must build a safe basket in which to place the harvest.   The Church has not been faithful in training disciples who can also train disciples.  They have become faithful church members but most have never gained the maturity to even help another lost soul make the transition into the Kingdom of God.  Reproduction is built into every living thing.  Why would God exempt HIS children from growing up and learning how to reproduce?  Also where are those offices to be found today in unity, John 17….  There is much that needs to be restored before the LORD’s return for HIS church.

CHOICES,    “WORTH CONSIDERING”   4/1/20    From Ken<><

Today’s Scripture       (Received in my email this morning from Texsas.)
“…There is a wide-open door for a great work here, although many oppose me.”  1 Cor. 16:9

There Will Always Be Adversity
How do you respond when unfair situations come against you and people do you wrong? It’s easy to get discouraged and think that because it’s not working out, it’s not meant to be. But just because you have opposition doesn’t mean you’re not in God’s will. The apostle Paul described his work in the city of Ephesus as a wide-open door of opportunity with many in opposition. Anytime you have opportunity, anytime you’re about to move forward to the next level, there will be opposition, people trying to discourage you, things you don’t understand. The people who reach their destiny aren’t moved by what’s not working out, and they don’t give up because they had a setback or because somebody did them wrong. They know God is in control, that He’s directing their steps. They know that the setback is really a setup for God to do something greater. The adversity means the promotion, the healing, the new level is on the way.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for every open door of opportunity that You open for me. Thank You that the opposition I face is only a setup for You to do something greater in my life. I believe that You are in control and the next level is on the way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Thoughts:
This reminds me of an expression that I often use: “What does not kill me, makes me stronger.”  On my track at 87 I go to have my feet worked on once a week at a gym, now closed due to the virus.   But in that gym there is thousands upon thousands of dollars of stuff to make you suffer.  And folks pay big bucks to borrow it for a few hours several time a week.  And most of them look like the walking dead as they run, push pull, lift and struggle with their get healthy program.  In fact I have an exercise bike in my study that I should ride more than I do.  So we all know that if we don’t use it, we loose it.  This world has been created by God to in an effort to teach us about how things work in HIS spiritual and eternal Kingdom that is even more real than this world is for us.   But to also be inclusive of our free will for LOVE to be real.   We already know that physical matter is really mostly empty space and as such is really an illusion.  But it does give us a sense of being independent and secure.  It is a place where we can use our freewill without being manipulated by some outside E.T. influence or it would not be freewill.   And of course the results are not all that good in what we have decided to do.  We are filling up both space and our land with garbage.  Seems we have learned very little about recycling and leaving things better than we find them.  But back to the subject.  We are presently living in a temporary time dimension that eventually will be totally recycled into another universe.  Nothing in space or on earth will remain as is.  Even the sun, moon, planets, oceans and earth will be recycled by God into a place where the light is from Him, there will be no night and those living there will be living in total righteousness. love and truth with HIM as one big joyful family.

So what does that mean for us?   Well if you are still tracking with me it means we should be getting ready to live in a new kind of eternal dimension.  That we are going to need to learn to be a different kind of people who don’t make messes,  a jump to light speed.   So my letters to you for the past year are an my efforts to get us ready for an eternity in righteousness and light with our Creator.  But it is totally up to you as to whether you get ready to make the transition or not.  Our Creator is not going to force anyone to come and live with HIM.  However the option to live outside of God and HIS creation without HIS presence is rather bleak.   That would mean your eternal soul would have nothing made by God including a body in which to live.  Think about it, there is only one God, there is no other.  He is a God of love and also loves to create.  But if you decline HIS invitation then there is no other place of light to go to.   And no contact with others as it takes God providing a body for us to do so.  The only reason that I can send this awareness to you is because God has allowed my eternal soul to borrow this body for this past 87 years.   You will need a new God made body to live with HIM in eternity.  But the way is narrow and few find it.  So I am giving you what I have found in the Holy Bible in words and thoughts that are up to speed for our day.   But a little out of Rev. 21 in the Amplified willl not hurt you.

“Then I saw a new [a] sky (heaven) and a new earth, for the former [b] sky and the former earth had passed away (vanished), and there no longer existed any sea.   2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, all arrayed like a bride beautified and adorned for her husband;  3 Then I heard a mighty voice from the throne and I perceived its distinct words, saying, See! The abode of God is with men, and He will live (encamp, tent) among them; and they shall be His people, and God shall personally be with them and be their God.  4 God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more, neither shall there be anguish (sorrow and mourning) nor grief nor pain any more, for the old conditions and the former order of things have passed away.  5 And He Who is seated on the throne said, See! I make all things new. Also He said, Record this, for these sayings are faithful (accurate, incorruptible, and trustworthy) and true (genuine).  6 And He [further] said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I [Myself] will give water without price from the fountain (springs) of the water of Life.  7 He who is victorious shall inherit all these things, and I will be God to him and he shall be My son.  8 But as for the cowards and the ignoble and the contemptible and the cravenly lacking in courage and the cowardly submissive, and as for the unbelieving and faithless, and as for the depraved and defiled with abominations, and as for murderers and the lewd and adulterous and the practicers of magic arts and the idolaters (those who give supreme devotion to anyone or anything other than God) and all liars (those who knowingly convey untruth by word or deed)—[all of these shall have] their part in the lake that blazes with fire and brimstone. This is the second death.”  (Actually this is the painful feeling of not having a body and yet having total recall of what has been missed for eternity.  But a clearer picture in which to share the experience without trying to share the details.)

TIME

ALOHA FAMILY & FRIENDS, Beloved of God and me.   John 3:16-18 & 12:24-26

TIME,    “WORTH CONSIDERING”     3/31/20

Today’s Scripture   (In my emails this morning.)
“…Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”  (Ephesians 5:15–16, NIV)

Be “On Purpose”
Time is one of the most valuable commodities we have. It’s more valuable than money. You can make more money, but you can’t make more time. To “redeem the time” means don’t waste it. We have a responsibility to use our time wisely. Paul said in effect that if you’re going to reach your highest potential, you have to be an “on purpose” person and invest your life in what’s best for you. You know where you’re going. You’re not vague, distracted, waiting to see what happens. You’re focused. You’re making the most of each opportunity.

God has given you a present. It’s called “today.” Are you living it to the full? With purpose and passion? Pursuing your dreams? Or are you distracted? Indifferent? Just doing whatever comes along? Make this decision that you’re going to redeem the time. Get focused. Get organized. Set your goals. Make your plans. Once this day is over, you can never get it back.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for giving me the gift of this day to live to the full. Thank You that You are calling me to invest my life in what’s best for me, to redeem the time, and to run my life with purpose and passion. Help me to make the most of every opportunity. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

COVID-19:
If you would like some spiritual company in what may headed our way, read again Matt.24, Mark13, Luke 21 and Heb. 11.   And perhaps get a copy of Fox’s “Book of Martyrs.”   As a Christian it seems to me best to decide to combat this virus with faith as well as all of the recommendations.   So far we have about 5 confirmed cases on the Big Island but it appear that 1/3 of our Island is now hazardous.   So anytime someone goes to town for food or what ever there is a possibility of exposure now especially in Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii.  But the worst thing you could do is get into is fear which can also shut down our immune system and make it more of an issue than it is.

This next was written by others but my feeling as well.  So we do what we can to stay safe and then we turn it all over to our Heavenly Father.  A Prayer:  “I’m turning it all over to You, LORD.   I’m going to tune out the news today and turn up my praise. YOU ARE THE Most High God and fighting my battles. After all, you, God are my true refuge and strength and healer.   You are my present help in a time of trouble. You are with me and for me. Amen! ”   Rom. 8

We are all in this together. These are unknown times, but we can be encouraged that as we pray and praise in the midst of the storm, our faith is strengthened, our peace increases, and we acknowledge God is abundantly present with us, Rom.8…   “After all, Jesus came to heal us and never made anyone sick.”

DISCIPLINE

ALOHA FAMILY & FRIENDS,   Beloved of God and me,  John 3:16-18

DISCIPLINE,     “WORTH CONSIDERING”   3/30/20   from   Ken Smith<><

“Today’s Scripture        (In my email this morning from a mega church in Texas.)
“…No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”  (Hebrews 12:11, NIV)

Don’t Feed the Negative
It can feel good to give into the temptation to watch something you shouldn’t, to gossip about a friend, to be lazy, to tell someone off. The flesh likes the easy way. The reason some people don’t grow is because they’re not disciplined to do the right thing when it’s hard. You have to be consistent. The flesh is not going to go away. The apostle Paul said, “I die daily.” Every day we have to say no to things. “No, I’m not going to watch that. I won’t be sarcastic. I’m not going to hang out with that friend. I’m not going to eat whatever I feel like.”

Remember that every time you give into that temptation, become impatient, or get offended, you’re feeding and growing the flesh. If you’ll start to not give in to the temptation, the temper, the bad attitude, you’re going to step into a new season of freedom, of growth, of favor.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You are working in me and giving me the desire to obey You. Thank You that I have the power to overcome and be disciplined to do the right thing. I believe that the forces for me are greater than the forces against me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Thoughts:
We often spend useless and wasteful time thinking and talking about things we don’t like and can not change.  I hear Christians talk stink about stuff that only supports their own ego.  as though knowing and telling others about how much that they know somehow make them wise and more important in this world.   And often it can become an obsession that they don’t even remember. That the subject has already been thoroughly been aired and evaluated many many times.  In the Word of God we are clearly taught to allow the past to be forgotten if at all.  And most often that kind of conversation is full of anger, unbelief, fear, judgment with the negativity and causes the time of the conversation to drift totally into the flesh and destroys the potential for the Holy Spirit to use the time for the building of the Kingdom of God.   Also it is very difficult not to get drawn into the negativity.  And if you try to say something to try to reverse the conversation,  the person will usually be offended as you seeming not to be interested in going through their obsessions one more time.

The little Book of James come to mind about the stink coming out of our mouths.  He was aware that the tongue is the most difficult of our member to bring under the control of the Holy Spirit.   So you might want to read that little letter from time to time, really loaded with good stuff to help us become more like our Lord Jesus.  He was down here with the same limitations that we have except for the stuff we got from Adam like pride, rebellion and disobedience.   So Jesus set the example for us so that with his grace and power, we too could overcome as HE did.  Read Rom. 8 and Heb 11 to check it out.  GOD our Creator has so designed things so that we have the opportunity to learn how to have a freewill and yet through love to submit our free will back to HIM for a good clean up.  We have been given a wonderful opportunity through our freewill to learn to love God, ourselves and each other.  It is amazing to me that today most entertainment is destructive.  It majors in blowing up things or in viciously tearing people apart.  In fact it is amazing how many different ways we have invented to destroy each other.  Worse than the days of ROME.  And we tend to get into the dynamics of the story and go away thinking that was a great film.  Even the good guys seem almost as vicious as the bad guys in order to win.  Even back when I was a little kid I can still remember “Night on Bald Mountain” about the powers of the darkness.  “Fantasia”   I remember throwing coke bottles from my crib at what I thought were demons?  My mother use them for milk bottles as I could not break them.

So seems we are going to need to adjust our obsession with darkness into becoming the Children of Light.  In the new Kingdom of God ‘s  righteousness (See Rev. 21) it is obviously going to require a total change in us from taking things apart into the joy of putting things together.  The world as it now is allowed to exist to give us a clear understanding of what things dissolve into the lies of the darkness.  So if we make the transition into HIS light there will be no temptation ever again to depart from that love, joy and light and the experience of HIS presence.  Having a free will makes us able to be honest in our love for HIM, ourselves and each other.  LOVE makes it absolutely necessary for freewill to exist as Love is a decision.  I have seen folks love a scabies covered crippled old stinky dog treating him like he was a new born baby.  Same with folks at Costco as I consider the matched pairs of people, looking from the outside.   How can that work????    Beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder.   So God has turned us loose in a temporary time zone, like a little capsule in eternity.  In our time zone dimension we can easily and clearly see the fruit of evil and good.  And we can also make a decision as to which we like best.  So when the time of God’s creation of the new heavens and earth comes,  those who love the darkness will be consigned to live alone in darkness and those who love the light will be invited to live eternally in light. And Jesus is the Way, Truth and Light.  He is God’s pure example for us as a path to HIM.   Our life on earth is a time of testing for us to find out where we want to live in God’s Eternity of Righteousness.  We can enjoy a new heaven and a new earth that is totally clean or not.  No big sales pitch here, look around at the creation before we got here.  Love the big trees of Northern California.   Would a Creator want to turn us loose in HIS dimension without change !!! ??  Not a chance.  As a human race we are far from being even potty trained.  Romans chapter one through seven covers it nicely.  So think about it, Which direction are you headed as per the New Testament.  And we don’t get to draw our own road map.
