Wedding Vows

Dearly beloved, we are assembled here in the presence of God and this company of loved ones and friends, to join this man and this woman in the bonds of holy matrimony. The Scriptures challenge us with the sacredness of the Marriage relationship, and sets forth the love of Christ for his Church as an example of deepest devotion. The Master himself shared the joys of the Marriage Feast in Galilee. In the first Corinthian letter, the Apostle Paul gives a very beautiful guide for us in the underlying meaning of

Love is patient and kind.

Love is not jealous or boastful.

Love is not arrogant or rude.

Love does not insist on its own way,

Love does not rejoice at wrong,

Love rejoices in the right.

Love bears all things, believes all things.

Love hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails.

(1 Cor. 13: 4-8)

Prayer

Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with singing. Heavenly Father, supreme in might and glory, guide and bless this bridegroom and bride. Father, we lift our souls in praise. All creation  declares your glory;  through man, fashioned in your image, You have revealed Your majesty. Within His heart you have implanted the ennobling  influences of love and devotion. You who art the Source of life and of joy, bless this covenant which this bridegroom and bride now seal in the name of The Lord Jesus Christ. Be with them in this sacred hour and in all the days to come.

The Lord’s Table

Being in joyful fellowship with the Lord Jesus I offer you the bread of His body and the wine of His Blood as the token of His healing and His forgiveness of all things past that the present and the future may be built on the sure foundations of His Love, forgiveness and redemption.

Receive the Bread of Life for the health of the body in the name of The Lord Jesus Christ.

Receive the Wine of forgiveness for the life of the spirit in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Feed on Him in your hearts by faith this day as the heart of your covenant of unity in love through Jesus Christ our Lord and the Power of the Holy Spirit. Amen

The two smaller candles represent your individual lives that you are now merging this day into one. The center larger candle represents your new life now merging this day into one for the greater glory of your Heavenly Father. Remember this day that you have become one. In the lighting of this single candle you have now extinguished your individual candles. This day you have formed a three fold cord with each other and the Lord Jesus Christ. Ecclesiastes 4:12

Prayer

Eternal God, creator and preserver of life, author of salvation, and giver of all grace, look with favor upon this man and this woman whom you make one flesh in holy matrimony. Grant that their wills be so knit together in Your will, and that their spirits be so knit with Your Holy Spirit, that they each may grow in love and peace with You and with one another all the days of their lives. Give them grace, when they hurt each other, to recognize and acknowledge their fault, and to seek each other’s forgiveness and Yours. Make their life together a sign of Christ’s love to this sinful and broken world. Give them such fulfillment and mutual affection that they may reach out in love and concern for others.
