COMMANDMENTS
COMMANDMENTS OF CHRIST JESUS, “WORTH CONSIDERING” 6/30/19 (Across my desk)
Today’s Scripture
“I made haste, and did not delay to keep Your commandments.”(Psalm 119:60, NKJV)
Don’t Delay
Isn’t it interesting how easy it is to put things off? We plan on doing something. We have good intentions. We just plan to do it later. “One day I’m going to start exercising. One day I’m going to get my finances in order. One day I’m going to forgive that person who hurt me.” The problem with this kind of thinking is that “one day” never comes. There will always be some reason to keep delaying it. Is there something in your heart that you know you need to do? Maybe God has been dealing with you, and you keep putting it off. You think, “As soon as I get through this busy season, I’ll spend more time with my family. As soon as my child gets out of diapers, I’m going to get my family back in church.” But friend, good intentions don’t equal obedience. The quicker you do what you feel down in your spirit, the happier you’re going to be. Don’t let unfinished business keep you from God’s best. Step out. Obey His voice and walk in the blessing He has for you!
A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for Your patience and grace toward me. Search my heart. Show me the way to go. I choose to obey Your voice quickly and honor You in all that I do in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
My Thoughts:
When we were born of the seed of Adam, we inherited a dark side that is self centered. Put two babies in one crib and see what happens with one bottle of milk. They don’t happily each share a half bottle of milk. We put it in nice words called, ” Self Preservation.” But with God love is demonstrated by sacrifice and giving even at times out of needs. So actually it is the Commandments of Christ Jesus and the teachings in the New Testament that help us to know what is of our Adamic flesh nature and what is GOD’S nature. Then it is up to us with the use of our Free Will as to heading into the light or the darkness for eternity. Rom. 7 & 8 is a good teaching on this.
So Christ Jesus starts with reaffirming 9 of the 10 commandments leaving out the Sabbath as being fulfilled as we learn to walk in the Holy Spirit, Rom.14:5-6 & Heb. 4:1-12. So what are the Commandments of Christ Jesus for HIS Church. I can only list a few here as the New Testament is full of them. So lets start with Matt. 28:19-20 known as the Great Commission: 19 Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them [a]into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you [b]all the days ([c]perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. [d]Amen (so let it be). S
Some have bailed on this saying this was said to the Apostles, but that does not float as Jesus tells us to keep doing it till it is all over and does the same in John 17:20. That we as Christians are responsible for getting out the message on every thing that HE taught. We are commanded to make disciples not church members.
A disciple can introduce a soul to Christ Jesus and teach them to become a disciple to also reproduce. We are created in Christ Jesus to reproduce spiritually. Have you every helped another soul find Jesus? Did you help them learn to reproduce in kind? Don’t know how? Time to learn, it is a Commandment.
Then of course there is the remolding of our Character to become like that of Christ Jesus as per 1 John 4:17-21 that can cover a lot of other changes that we need to go through: 17 In this [union and communion with Jesus] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love [a]turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear [b]brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection]. 19 We love Him, because He first loved us. 20 If anyone says, I love God, and hates (detests, abominates) his brother [[c]in Christ], he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, Whom he has not seen.21 And this command (charge, order, injunction) we have from Him: that he who loves God shall love his brother [[d]believer] also.
So as you pray/study/read your New Testament start making a list of the LORD’s Commandments if you LOVE HIM. I am still working on this as well with room for more good changes.
Yours, in HIS great love and wonderful Grace and mercy, Ken<>< www.Trinity-Aloha.org
