WE NEED JESUS
WE NEED JESUS, “WORTH CONSIDERING” 8/8/19 (Across my desk this morning.)
Today’s Scripture
“…apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5, NIV)
Without Him
The best decision of your life was to live your life with God at the center. That was the essential first step to living at your full potential. Now the key to experiencing an extraordinary life every day is to grow in your relationship with God. In this Scripture, Jesus talks about how life with God is like a vine and its branches. When a branch is connected to the vine, it receives nourishment and life. It’s able to produce fruit. In the same way, we have to stay connected to God so we can receive His strength and be empowered to accomplish all that He has for us. Jesus put it this way, “Without Me you can do nothing.”
So how do we stay connected? First, by acknowledging Him. By talking to Him. By reading and following His Word. See, when you acknowledge God, that’s a sign of humility. You’re saying, “God, I know You created the whole universe. You flung the stars into space. You tell every raindrop where to fall. I’m not here by accident. You breathed Your life into me. You made me in Your image. You crowned me with Your favor. God, I can’t do this without You. I can’t make it on my own. I need You in my life.” When you show that kind of dependency on God, there is nothing He won’t do for you. God will move heaven and earth to get you to where you’re supposed to be.”
A Prayer for Today
“Father, today I choose to abide in You. I don’t want to live life on my own, so I choose to trust in You. Show me Your ways. Teach me Your love. Keep me close to You always in Jesus name. Amen.”
My Thoughts:
So really, when we consider, 1 Cor. 3:11-15: For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Yes, and please read it again… You don’t work for salvation, that is a gift for making Christ Jesus Lord. But you do work for wages on HIS foundation. So just how much of your life time will end up as gold, silver and precious stones? And what does GOD consider as gold, silver and precious stones in HIS Kingdom where the streets are made of pure gold? Jesus shared, 41. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. 42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. Matt.10. And again in Matt.25:33-40. Jesus tells us what is important to HIM and our Heavenly Father: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
So as we come into some sheep humility and obedience to the Holy Spirit where HE is allowed to take over and works through us a lot of our priorities will change. And as we get the long view and fully trust HIM with the remainder of our lives we will pick up HIS concerns and not even notice that we are changing. In other words we begin to be totally in unity with GOD and HIS loving concern for the souls of HIS Creation. So that what is best for others becomes also important and best for us. So as we abide in HIM we will begin to produce fruit that is everlasting. For without HIM our past will be burned up as time wasted or perhaps not even make it.
THERE IS BUT ONE CHURCH OF CHRIST JESUS AND ALL WHO LOVE AND OBEY HIM ARE MEMBERS.
