VICTORY, GOD’S WAY
ALOHA SAINTS, FAMILY & FRIENDS, Beloved of God and me, John 3:16
VICTORY, GOD’S WAY “WORTH CONSIDERING” 10/21/20, From Ken Smith
Today’s Scripture (Over my desk this morning from a church in Texas.)
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21, NIV)
Walk Away
When David was a teenager, his oldest brother, Eliab, spoke to him in the most condescending, disrespectful, and accusatory way in front of others (see 1 Samuel 17:28). Rest assured that David felt like telling his brother off, but he kept his mouth closed, turned and walked away. Seeing such self-discipline, it’s no wonder God entrusted David to do great things.
You know that if you argue long enough with someone, you’re going to say things you regret later. A ten-minute argument can set the relationship back ten years. You have to learn to walk away. You’re not going to accomplish anything positive in a heated, disrespectful, contentious situation. Let them have the last word, and you keep your peace. The Scripture says that you “overcome evil with good.” You don’t overcome disrespect with more disrespect, or overcome insult with insult, or overcome shouting with more shouting. You do it by staying respectful. You be the first to walk away.
A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that in every way possible Jesus overcame evil by doing good. Thank You for giving me the grace to overcome evil by doing good as well. Help me to stay respectful in all of my conversations and every situation and walk away when necessary. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Ken’s Comments,
In my life time we are coming into one of the most important elections that I have ever seen. My overview is that it is a decision between securing our Constitutional Republic or a big step into socialism. But it has become a personality cat fight of name calling and lies. Trump has the philosophy of “If they hit you, hit them back harder.” And it makes him look like a bully and it could easily move the nation into the web of socialism. Not saying that he and Biden will ever be friends or on the same page. But being friends with the American People is a must. Who wants a bully for president? I know folks (Christian Folks) who hate, yes deeply hate, Trump with an uncontrollable anger. Because he has taken on the personality of a bully. Frankly, I don’t think it is real or works very well due to the sowing and reaping law of the universe of our Creator. Jesus taught us that the best way, if possible, to get rid of our enemies was to make friends of them.
One time in ministry with hippies I had a really great opportunity to test this out. There was as big very strong stone mason, called Harvey that fell madly in love with a beautiful blond girl in my ministry. Harvey rode a really big Harley with short handle bars, I think a 1,200 cc and better than a thousand pounds. He started stalking the girl and her mother came to me that her daughter was really frightened of Harvey and wanted nothing to do with him. So I was up to bat and went and talked to Harvey, in love, logically, my best in the Lord. When done, Harvey looked at me like a big tank on the battle field and told me that he was going to kill me. And I had not doubt of his intent. But each time we would meet he would tell me I was dead meat and I will tell him that me and Jesus loved him and try to take time to talk with him about his work and such. After about a year, no more issue about the girl and we became good friends. Seemed he needed the love more than he wanted the hate and love won in the end. Now I have fond memories of Harvey and nearly 45 years later I am still here due to God’s Love. Harvey once borrowed my canoe one moonlit night and paddled in the open ocean from Kailua to Captain Cook. His bike would fall over in gravel and need 3 men to get it back up. If he broke a finger doing stone work and it grew back together wrong he would hit it with his other fist and break it again and tape some sticks to it until it was right. Harvey was something out of a horror movie but he became my friend. So I know by experience that Jesus is sharing the truth with us about loving our enemies and doing good to them and thus bringing them under the convection of the Holy Spirit. I don’t know if Harvey ever made Jesus Lord or not, but I would guess that he did, as God had a lot of love for that guy for sure.
Jesus mentioned that a man’s enemies would also be of his own house. That is the most difficult kind of a situation. As every day you have to give the battle to the lord and only bring love to the table even when you know how wrong that they are. To have the faith to simple Trust Jesus with them and to not get into it with them about the stuff of this world or the next. God has called us to a life of peace and to be peace makers and to simple be obedient to HIM and to walk away. But to never loose that understanding that God also loves them the same way that HE love us all. And that we are to also love them and pray for them that in faith they will come to HIS light and also find HIS Love and Peace even in the midst of the darkness of the enemy camp. Jesus came to save souls from eternal darkness and separation from God. This is also our prime directive with what ever gifts that we have from HIM as well. The world is full of the poor and the lost. We are to put on Christ and be here for HIM in our little world of influence to love others. If this is not your prime directive you might want to check out your eternal relationship with your Creator.
Yours, in HIS great love and wonderful grace and mercy, Ken<>< www.trinity-aloha.org
Worthy Brief <worthybrief@worthynetwork.com> Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that the Senate will vote Monday to confirm Trump Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett to the high court. (Very important, please pray about this.) Six Republican Senators have proposed a constitutional amendment to prevent Democrats from “packing” the Supreme Court, the Hill reported Monday. Environmental groups have reacted furiously to reports that the Japanese government is set to approve plans to dump more than 1 million tons of highly radioactive water stored at the Fukushima nuclear plant into the Pacific Ocean, with their concerns shared by the governments of neighboring countries and people living in northeastern Japan. China is preparing for a possible military invasion of Taiwan, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported Sunday. The Chinese government considers Taiwan to be a break-away part of China and is determined to bring it under Beijing’s control. (If Biden wins will probably happen. Without U.S. protection a done deal. Taiwan is still old Nationalist China and was never captured by the CCP.) Should be Taiwan wanting Mainland China back.
