ROD OF IRON
ROD OF IRON, “WORTH CONSIDERING” 7/2/19, (Across my desk this morning.)
Today’s Scripture
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.” (Psalm 139:14, NKJ)
Don’t Confuse Your “Do” With Your “Who”
Have you ever noticed that when you ask someone “Who are you?” a lot of times they’ll say, “I’m a salesman.” “I’m a minister.” “I’m a coach.” “I’m a teacher.” Many people find their identity in what they do. The problem with this kind of thinking is that people identify themselves with their negative habits and strongholds, too. I hear people say, “I’m an alcoholic; I just can’t beat it.” No, that’s not who you are, that’s what you do. But if you keep thinking that way and talking that way, it will become so ingrained on the inside that you’ll convince yourself that it’s true, and it will keep you from rising higher. One time somebody told me, “Joel, I’m a drug dealer.” He was embarrassed by it. He didn’t want to live that way. I told him what I’m telling you, “That’s not who you are. If you’ve accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then who you are is a child of the Most High God. It’s time to start acting like it because you have a destiny to fulfill.” As a believer, you are the righteousness of God in Christ! You are the head and not the tail! You are an overcomer! Today, embrace who you are in Christ and don’t ever let your performance change your identity.
A Prayer for Today
“Father God, thank You for who You are and for who You’ve made me. I declare today that I am the righteousness of God in Christ. Help me to keep my identity in You and glorify You in all that I do in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
My Thoughts,
This is an exceptionally good concept and well worth considering. Many Bible verses were tethered together in the above statement. And to add a few more,
Heb.11:1 Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. For by [faith—trust and holy fervor born of faith] the men of old had divine testimony borne to them and obtained a good report. By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible. … (Read the whole Chapter 11 on faith, be good for you.)
So we are to see ourselves in faith as GOD’s sees us to become what HE originally designed us to be. So we find in the Word of God what HE has in mind for us and step into that faith picture to help it come to pass. So WHAT does GOD see in us?
How about, Rod of Iron? (Christ Jesus dictating to Apostle John.)
Rev.2:26-28 And he who overcomes (is victorious) and who obeys My commands to the [very] end [doing the works that please Me], I will give him authority and power over the nations; 27 And he shall rule them with a sceptre (rod) of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, and [his power over them shall be] like that which I Myself have received from My Father; 28 And I will give him the Morning Star.
Rev.11:5 And she brought forth a male Child, One Who is destined to shepherd (rule) all the nations with an iron staff, and her Child was caught up to God and to His throne.
Rev. 19:15 From His mouth goes forth a sharp sword with which He can smite (afflict, strike) the nations; and He will shepherd and control them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath and indignation of God the All-Ruler (the Almighty, the Omnipotent).
So in these 3 parallel scriptures HE has faith for us to become HIS “Rod of Iron” in HIS RULE of the earth for a 1,000 years. And HE also uses the Church of Christ Jesus to boot lucifer out of the heavens with his minions of fallen angels in
Rev.12:10-13,10 Then I heard a strong (loud) voice in heaven, saying, Now it has come—the salvation and the power and the kingdom (the dominion, the reign) of our God, and the power (the sovereignty, the authority) of His Christ (the Messiah); for the accuser of our brethren, he who keeps bringing before our God charges against them day and night, has been cast out! 11 And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing]. 12 Therefore be glad (exult), O heavens and you that dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in fierce anger (fury), because he knows that he has [only] a short time [left]!
(The “they” here is the Church of Christ Jesus.) In Adam we allowed lucifer to become the god of this world. In Christ Jesus we get to boot him out of the heavens in the middle of the Great Tribulation. He is then bound at the end of the Great Tribulation and at the end of the 1000 year Kingdom he is consigned to the Lake of fire (suffering) which is in the midst of “Blackness of Darkness” * for Eternity. *Jude 13
And this is just one of GOD’s many faith pictures for us that we need to join into about ourselves. Don’t feel like a rod of iron? That is the issue. We can not go by our feelings but by what GOD says that we are. See how many more things that GOD sees in you that you can find in the Holy Scriptures, like king, ambassador, priest and such? I don’t feel much like a Rod of Iron either at 86 but GOD says that I am. So feelings have to make room for GOD’s TRUTH, as GOD never lies and the Holy Scriptures can not be broken.
