HUMILITY,   “WORTH CONSIDERING”   8/2/19,   (Across my desk this morning.)

Today’s Scripture
…Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear.”(Psalm 10:17, NKJV)

Preparing for the Promise
In the Scripture, it says that God didn’t lead the Israelites by the shortest route to the Promised Land. He took them the long way on purpose because they were not prepared for war. God knew that if He would have taken them into the land too quickly, they would have been easily defeated. Their enemies were much bigger and much more experienced. So on purpose, God took them a longer route to protect them and strengthen them so that they could fulfill their destiny.

I’m sure they prayed many times, “God, we’re uncomfortable out here in the desert. Where’s our Promised Land?” But God didn’t answer that prayer, not because He was trying to make their lives miserable, but because He knew what was up in front of them. He had to prepare them to step into the fullness of their destiny.

In the same way, God has already laid out the plan for your life. He knows exactly what you need and when you need it. If you are in a difficult situation that’s taking longer than you hoped, know that God is preparing you. He is strengthening you. Stay in faith and keep praising Him as you move forward into the Promised Land He has for you!

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for leading and guiding me. Thank You for Your hand of blessing upon my life. I choose to trust You even in the difficult times knowing that You are preparing me for the promises in my future in Jesus’ name. Amen

My Thoughts:
My first reaction was that the 40 years in the wilderness was the fault of the unbelief of the people of Israel.  But then I saw that the writer was considering the trek around the peninsula to Sinai and then to Canaan.   Of course then after all of that from Egypt to Canaan, they would not go on into the land due to their fear and unbelief.  They quit trusting in God’s promises and took control for themselves,  Pride….   God’s foreknowledge lets HIM know in advance the decisions that we will make in our lives and does HIS best to weave them into what is good for us.   But much of the time HE has to wait for the sowing and reaping to be completed.  Just like Israel,  we can make a decision out of fear, pride and unbelief and spend 40 years wondering in the wilderness.  We have been given a freewill and GOD will honor your right to choose the light or darkness.  True Love can only exist in FreeWill.

But if we are interested we can learn about light and darkness through HIS apostles and prophets so that we can be trained to avoid those painful situations of life like 40 years in the wilderness.  And that is the purpose of these notes.  They are written to encourage you to have the Humility to seek GOD’s TRUTH and walk in it.  Peter puts it this way: Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 1 Peter 5:5  Paul gives us these thoughts on humility:    And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,19 Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house, Act 20:18-20.  And of course Proverbs 15:33  The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

So where there is little Humility, Pride controls through fear and unbelief.   And Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.  Prov.16:18

Yours in HIS great love and wonderful grace and mercy,   Ken<><
