HOLY SPIRIT,   “WORTH CONSIDERING”    8/7/21   From Ken Smith<><

Some Names for the Holy Spirit:    Holy Spirit,  Spirit of God,  Spirit of Yahweh,  Spirit of Grace,  Spirit of Knowledge,  Spirit of Truth,  Spirit of Understanding,  Spirit of Wisdom,  Spirit of Life, Spirit of the Living God,  Spirit of Prophecy,  Spirit of Revelation,  Spirit of the Father, Spirit of the Fear of the Lord,  Spirit of the Lord,  Spirit of the Son,   Spirit,  Breath of the Almighty,  Helper,  Spirit of Counsel,  Eternal Spirit,  Generous Spirit,  God,  Good Spirit,  Lord,  Power of the Highest,  Spirit of Might,  Spirit of Adoption,  Spirit of Burning,  Spirit of Judgment / Spirit of Justice,  Spirit of Christ,  Spirit of Glory.

Notice what Jesus teaches in Luke’s Gospel 11:11.  “What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you, then, being evil [that is, sinful by nature], know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him!”  Notice that the Holy Spirit is here given to a SON.  So to receive the power of the Holy Spirit one must first become a child of God, Romans 10’9-10….  A major factor in being empowered by the Holy Spirit after salvation is obedience.  Acts 5:32,   “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.”  In the Church,  obedience is no longer taught from God’s point of view anymore as in Hebrews 5:9, “And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;” The so called church today is more concerned about membership than helping the flock to know and obey the Words of Jesus.   So the outcome is permissiveness, greasy grace and sloppy agape.  We tend to make up our own rules concerning what God wants so we can stay within our own comfort zones.  Being our savior, is wonderful but really, really become like our LORD where we find HIS commandments and keep them is really too much to ask. But consider,  Rom.8:4-11 “That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.  9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.  10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.  11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”

So Jesus came to save us, seal us and to empower us.   1n 1955 I was saved and sealed ok but the little box church I went do did not understand the empowering part.  So I bumped along as a pretty much carnal Christian for about 13 years.  Then I heard about the empowering of the Holy Spirit and gave a lot of time to the scriptures to get the rest of the package the Jesus died to give me.  It was during the wonderful move of God in 1968 and it was wonderful to come into the land of God’s power and freedom.  There was so much faith during those days that everything became supernaturally natural.  People were getting their needs met all around me, it was amazing.   As the power of God became real like Acts 5:16 it became normal church.  Personally I long for that to happen again in this generation.  In Matt. 3:11, John the Baptist taught about this: “And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.  11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:  12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”   So here, the greatest of the Old Testament Prophets clearly puts it together for us.  Either get baptized with the Holy Ghost (Spirit) and become good seeds and reproduce good fruit or be pruned and cast into the fire.  John was saying the wheat (Church) will be gathered (Raptured) and what is left will be tossed into the fire. (at the 2nd resurrection.)  And of course there is the “Fruit” of the Spirit, the “Gifts” of the Spirit and the “Ministries” of the Spirit that need to be considered and understood to have faith for.  Nothing works in God’s Kingdom without FAITH….
