HATE & VENDETTAS  “WORTH CONSIDERING”  8/6/20   From Ken<>< Kealia

Today’s Scripture      (Across my desk this morning from a church in Texas.)
“…Don’t seek vengeance. Don’t bear a grudge; but love your neighbor as yourself, for I am Jehovah…”  (Leviticus 19:18, TLB)

Have a “No Excuses” Mentality
In the Scripture, Joseph was betrayed and sold into slavery by his own brothers, then falsely accused and put in prison. He could have used excuse after excuse to be bitter and angry, but he had a “no excuses” mentality. He kept doing the right thing when the wrong thing was happening. And in the end, he came out vindicated, promoted, and in a place of influence and respect.    (This is an exceptionally good word to remember.   Ken<><)

People may have said things about you and done things to you that hurt and offended. Don’t waste your time looking back, nursing your wounds. Reliving what they did, thinking about what didn’t work out are distractions. Let it go and God will be your vindicator. Life is too short for you to waste another day in self-pity. It’s not always easy to get over it and move forward, but here’s the key: the pain of letting it go is less than the pain of holding on and missing your destiny.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You are the God who fights my battles and vindicates me. Thank You for Your love and grace that are mine. Right now I let go of the hurts, offenses, and wounds of the past. I declare that they have no power over me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Comments,
Back in 1991 when I was pastor at Hale Halawai o Holualoa, now called “Living Stones Church.”  I realized that one of my board members was a 33 degree Mason.  So one day I asked him up to my home to try to see the difference between the fear and pride of the lodge and the Church of Christ Jesus.  He left my front door telling me that he was going to have me for lunch and he did and due to all the smoke but not the facts I was asked to resign by UCC which I did.  But as a condition left the church in the hands of a minister that I trusted.   So I was careful not to get into a vendetta about it and just gave it to the Lord.   Couple of months later saw a boat for sale in the West Hawaii Today, called, and it was the same guy.  So we talked as if nothing had ever happened about buying his boat.  He was going to call me back about a price.  No call, so called again the following week and his wife was on the phone.  She told me that he had died suddenly and the boat was now not for sale and hung up.  The Church went on to become much more influential than my vision for it.  And seems it is now possibley the largest membership in Kona?  It was my fault for not being more careful about qualifications for membership and leadership in the ministry.

So there is something to, “what goes around, comes around.”   And “What you sow, is what you reap.”  And sometimes we are sowing seeds that we have no idea of how big of a patch of weeds they will grow.  I have known a guy that for 50 years has hated his father and mother for not doing what he expected them to do and his life is all about him and how others have trashed him with the demonic blame game and so very few want to even be around him.  Needs our prayers, nothing but darkness up ahead unless he gets turned around.  The Whole Bible is full on teachings about trusting God to judge and even the score and to make things right.  Don’t go to sleep on your anger.   Be angry but sin not….  If you have a problem with a person go talk to them in humility and love and obedience to the Holy Spirit.   Best way to get rid of your enemies is to make friends out of them.  If the Lord should regard sin, we would all go down for the count.   Even the good stuff we do is sometime done to look good and to booster our pride.  We have grown up in Adam’s messed up world and deeply need God’s loving grace to get extracted from it.  So Hate, in early English, was to prefer one person over another.   God loves us, each and every one exactly the same.  Even as HE loves Jesus.  He wants us to learn to love each other the same way.  Do we follow God’s example and love every soul the same?  In fact HE commands us to not only love each other but also to love our enemies and those who despitefully use us.  Trust is learned but Love is Commanded.  And it is impossible to locw if you have hate or a vendetta going about some one for one offense or another.   The Bible commands us to pray for the leaders that God has raised up for us, good or bad.  A lot of folks have an obsessive hate for Trump.  I really feel for them as their weed patch is going to be difficult to pull.
By the way, do we have a weed patch in the back yard in Kealia…  If in Kona could sure use some help !!

Yours, in HIS great love and wonderful grace and mercy,   Ken<><   www.Trinity-Aloha.org
