LORD JESUS CHRIST
LORD JESUS CHRIST, “WORTH CONSIDERING” 11/18/20, From Ken Smith<><
Today’s Scripture (Over my desk this morning from a church in Texas.)
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way. Ps. 37:23
Ordered Steps
Sometimes God will inconvenience you in order to help somebody else. Instead of getting frustrated when our plans don’t work out, we need to remember that it’s not all about us. “I don’t like my job. The people are so negative. When is God going to move me out?” Maybe God has you there on purpose to let your light shine and be a good influence on them. Quit fighting everything you don’t like. If God has you there, He’s ordered your steps. It may be uncomfortable, but instead of resisting it, trying to pray it away, why don’t you embrace it? Say, “God, this is where You have me right now, so I’m going to be my best. I may not like it, but I know a secret: it’s all good.” If you’ll stay in faith, everything that was meant to stop you, God is going to use to push you forward. He’s bringing it all together right now.
A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You never allow anything out of which You can’t bring good. Thank You that You purposefully order my steps in the way that is best for me. I believe that You have me right where You want me, and it’s working for me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Ken’s Comments:
It will take a lot of real maturity and faith to embrace this teaching today. Frankly, I am still working on it today even at my age. Jesus warned us that HE would bring a sword into our families. Matt. 10:34-42, Long…. but well “Worth Considering” AMP “Therefore, the one who [j] confesses and acknowledges Me before men [as Lord and Savior, affirming a state of oneness with Me], that one I will also confess and acknowledge before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But the one who denies and rejects Me before men, that one I will also deny and reject before My Father who is in heaven.34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace on the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword [of division between belief and unbelief]. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36 and a man’s enemies will be the members of his [own] household [when one believes and another does not]. 37 “[k] He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And he who does not take his [l] cross [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me] is not worthy of Me. 39 Whoever finds his life [in this world] will [eventually] lose it [through death], and whoever loses his life [in this world] for My sake will find it [that is, life with Me for all eternity]. 40 “He who receives and welcomes you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. 41 He who receives and welcomes a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward; and he who receives a righteous (honorable) man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward. 42 And whoever gives to one of these little ones [ these who are humble in rank or influence] even a cup of cold water to drink because he is my disciple, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward.”
It is very interesting that we can forget so very easily the words of Jesus and still think of Him as the LORD (King, Boss, Ruler) of our lives. It is so very easy to live a life of hypocrisy or acting. Don’t you find that to be true? Very few of us are free from hiding stuff in the dark rooms of our mind and heart. And yet Jesus came for that exact purpose, to set us free. We love to stay in our little “Comfort Zones” even if it is spiritually dangerous for us. And we go to battle with anyone that challenges us to move along on up stream. The clean water is always up stream. The swamp is down stream and full of critters that see us as part of the food chain. In this life, in this world there is no comfort zone for us. We are all pilgrims passing through into eternity. John 12:25: Jesus: “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone [just one grain, never more]. But if it dies, it produces much grain and yields a harvest. 25 The one who loves his life [eventually] loses it, but the one who hates his life in this world [and is concerned with pleasing God ] will keep it for life eternal. 26 If anyone serves Me, he must [continue to faithfully] follow Me [without hesitation, holding steadfastly to Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me ] ; and wherever I am [in heaven’s glory], there will My servant be also. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.”
