GIFT OF LIFE & PEACE
GIFT OF LIFE & PEACE “WORTH CONSIDERING” 12/2/20
Today’s Scripture ( Across my desk this morning from a church in Texas.)
I called to the LORD in distress; the LORD answered me and set me in a broad place. Ps.118.5
Enlarged
King David didn’t get enlarged in the good times; he was enlarged when things weren’t going his way. While he was alone out in the shepherds’ fields, it looked as though he would never accomplish his dreams. But those years helped prepare him to become a champion. When he killed Goliath, it happened because he went through the dark places with a good attitude. When he was distressed and felt as though God had forgotten about him, his attitude was, “God, this is a dark place, but I’m developing patience and perseverance and learning to trust You.” At the right time, he came out of that dark place increased, promoted, and better off than he had been before. You may feel alone, abandoned, and mistreated, but dare to believe that He is blessing you even in the dark places. Be faithful in the shepherds’ field. It may not be easy, but faith is trusting in God when life doesn’t make sense.
A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You bless me even in the dark places, and what’s meant for my harm is going to bring me into a broad place. Thank You that You are preparing me to become a champion. I declare that I am trusting in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Ken’s Comments,
When we read the Psalms, we assume it was written by David and probably in most places it was. But what we get here is God is no respecter of persons. He loves each soul (Me) as HE also loves Jesus. And HE is for me all the time that I come to HIM in humility and obedience with faith. That all we see created is held together by the faith of GOD and HE would like to teach us to learn how to be creative as well. So I find myself with a freewill in a school designed to help me grow in faith. A school that not only encourages growth but also administers some heavy pruning of branches that produce no fruit. We are born to not only grow in faith but also in maturity, learn to reproduce.
So let’s take a little inventory, have you ever helped anyone be born from above by the Spirit of God. You see, those who have been born from above spiritually also have been given the responsibility of spiritual reproduction. But before that take place we must grow in faith. And the Word of God tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. So my best efforts in that direction of growing in faith is in listening to the New Testament on CD in my truck when driving. I may not remember the chapter and verse but I remember the thought. “Bible Gateway” make that easy to find if needed later.
On my computer as I write to you I can have Bible Gateway on one side of my screen and my blog on the other so it is easy to go back and forth. The key thought for today seems to me to be the encouragement to stay in faith during the times of pruning as in the times of blessing. That even in the dark of the night, God is with us. That prayer is simple taking time to talk to our maker and to, in faith, ask for the pruning. For the ability to produce more fruit for HIS Kingdom. And in doing so grow in faith into what HE had originally designed us to be in Christ Jesus before the first atom was created of HIS power and energy. And for us to realize that actually we are potentially the best of all of HIS creation. That Jesus was the best ever of all of HIS works and that we have been invited to become like Jesus through God’s Grace and HIS Mercy in Jesus. That Jesus is the first born of many brethren. That the eternal family of God is unlimited. That who-so-ever will may come and drink of the waters of life freely. Rev. 22:16-18
16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you and to give you assurance of these things for the churches. I am the Root (the Source, the Life) and the Offspring of David, the radiant and bright Morning Star.” 17 The [Holy] Spirit and the bride (the church, believers) say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take and drink the water of life without cost.
So note that the one who hears also is responsible for sharing the Good News. Are you doing that? Are you sharing the Good News to friends and family around you? Have you ever led a soul to Jesus? As there is always room in the Kingdom of God for another soul to find Jesus as Lord. And this wonderful gift of life is given freely to all who thirst for righteousness.
There is but ONE Church of Christ Jesus as LORD,
And all who Love, Honor and Obey Jesus are eternal members.
