POWER & PRAYER,
     “WORTH CONSIDERING”   7/2/20      From Ken<><

Today’s Scripture

“…Pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results…”  (James 5:16, NLT)

Pray for Others

It’s good to pray and ask God to help you with every need, but don’t stop there. Today’s Scripture tells us to pray for one another. You have the ability to help someone else reach their destiny. There are people God has put in your life who won’t become all they were created to be without you praying. They don’t have the faith to accomplish their dreams, they won’t break the addiction, they won’t overcome the challenge without you stepping up and asking God to help them.  Prayer moves the hands that rule the world. Prayer causes the God who created the universe to make things happen that we couldn’t make happen. When you pray, all of heaven comes to attention and the angels go to work. Chains of depression, sickness, and loneliness that have held others back begin to loosen. It may not happen overnight, but your prayers have great power and will produce wonderful results.

A Prayer for Today
Father, thank You that when I pray, it says that my prayers come up before Your throne as incense and You listen. Teach me to pray powerful prayers that produce wonderful results for the people whom You’ve brought into my life. I will lift them up. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Ken’s Comments:
The scripture quoted in James is far more impacting that the NLT translation.   The Amplified:
“And the prayer of faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.  The K. .J. translation is: “And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”  So what does the Greek say: It does not have the verb so leaves it up to the reader to figure out.  But it does include prayer, in faith,  restore ,sick and LORD raise and forgive.
James does add 5:16 “ Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].   Amplified Translation

So the key to answered prayer as per James (who grew up with Jesus as a son of Mary and Joseph) is as follows: Be on Holy Ground, no unconfessed sin.  Be in FAITH.  (That is to have the heart feeling that healing shall happen.   Not one of those prayers, “ Oh God, if it be your will please heal brother George or ??”  And further to be consistent.  We tend to grow in faith as we pray and are victorious.  We tend to loose what little faith we have if nothing happens.

I often use the concept of batteries.  Each one of us has a capacity for a certain charge.  Sometimes we are fully charged and some times not.  The Bible teaches that we can keep fully charged as we ingest God’s Truth.  John 17,  (whole chapter)     20 “I do not pray for these alone [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for [all] those who [will ever] believe and trust in Me through their message, 21 that they all may be one; just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe [without any doubt] that You sent Me.  22 I have given to them the glory and honor which You have given Me, that they may be one, just as We are one;

Notice here the wording very carefully in verse 22    “May be one”….  That the glory (POWER) is made available through our unity.  Being of one mind and one spirit connected together.  So when our little battery is correctly connected to every other little battery (The They and We) then the voltage and amps go up in order to be able to do more good stuff for our KING.  Eph. 4:11-16 follows  the same thought concerning the compacting of the “Living Stones” in order to see Jesus.    ( Please Study the Following. )

Ephesians 4:11-16 Amplified Bible (AMP) And [His gifts to the church were varied and] He Himself appointed some as apostles [special messengers, representatives], some as prophets [who speak a new message from God to the people], some as evangelists [who spread the good news of salvation], and some as pastors and teachers [to shepherd and guide and instruct], 12 [and He did this] to fully equip and perfect the saints (God’s people) for works of service, to build up the body of Christ [the church]; 13 until we all reach oneness in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, [growing spiritually] to become a mature believer, reaching to the measure of the fullness of Christ [manifesting His spiritual completeness and exercising our spiritual gifts in unity]. 14 So that we are no longer children [spiritually immature], tossed back and forth [like ships on a stormy sea] and carried about by every wind of [shifting] doctrine, by the cunning and trickery of [unscrupulous] men, by the deceitful scheming of people ready to do anything [for personal profit]. 15 But speaking the truth in love [in all things—both our speech and our lives expressing His truth], let us grow up in all things into Him [following His example] who is the Head—Christ. 16 From Him the whole body [the church, in all its various parts], joined and knitted firmly together by what every joint supplies, when each part is working properly, causes the body to grow and mature, building itself up [a]in [unselfish] love.  Amplified Bible really gets the point across.  A divided house can not stand.

Christians are in God’s earthly school of learning humility, obedience and unity, are you skipping HIS classes ?
