Marriage (2) “Worth Considering” 9/23/21, by Ken Smith<><
So let’s again look through the scriptures for the context of the Unity of Marriage.
Gen 1:26, “God said, Let Us [Father, Word, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth. A long way to go in getting to Jesus.
Jesus was the 1st of man to reach and obtain the vision of the WORD of GOD in Gen.1:26.
Notice here that God is in 3 persons, Obviously the Word of God, speaking to create mankind but man limited to earth in a temporary dimension of Time and that this was the beginning of a very special but limited process.
Gen.2:7, “Then the Lord God formed man from the [a] dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath or spirit of life, and man became a living being. Same as in John 20:22 where Jesus restored the Holy Spirit (Breath of Life) that had been lost with Adam’s rebellion. Jn. 3. And HIS disciples received eternal life.
Gen.2:18, Now the Lord God said, It is not good (sufficient, satisfactory) that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper (suitable, adapted, complementary) for him. (So God gave Adam someone to talk to and to help him that was complementary, that is a nice word for the original concept of woman’s creation. And if a woman applies this to the wrong Adam she reaps much pain from the association. A woman sometimes marries a man believing she can “fix” him, this usually is negative as well. But also obvious is that Adam needed help but not a mother. Gen.2:24, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall become united and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. (Must have been a Moses moment as GOD had said nothing about Fathers, Mother or children in this story of the Creation.)
So then the Pride and Rebellion at the tree of knowledge and the fall of the human race. When Adam and Eve lost their GOD connection of life through the Holy Spirit and we were born dead, spiritually.
Gen.3:16-17, “16 To the woman He said, I will greatly multiply your grief and your suffering in pregnancy and the pangs of childbearing; with spasms of distress you will bring forth children. Yet your desire and craving will be for your husband, and he will rule over you. 17 And to Adam He said, Because you have listened and given heed to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it, the ground is under a curse because of you; in sorrow and toil shall you eat [of the fruits] of it all the days of your life. (So we were born into a cursed world but have the option through Christ Jesus to find our way back into the forgiveness and grace of GOD and elect to go through the process of Sanctification (To be made Holy or to be put back on track..) But some of us are foolish and only a few are wise, Matt.25:1-13.
Proverbs 31:10-31, Husband is a Judge at the Gate and safely trusts her (11) And the wife has even the freedom to buy and sell land (16) and run the whole farm. What a beautiful example of unity.
1 Cor.14:34-36, Only a Righteous man can Roll Model for another man to become righteous. As it is also very difficult for a righteous man to teach a mature woman how to become virtuous.
Key Verses:
Eph.4:22-33, Wives, be subject (be submissive and adapt yourselves) to your own husbands as [a service] to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife as Christ is the Head of the church, Himself the Savior of [His] body. 24 As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands. 25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 So that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word, 27 That He might present the church to Himself in glorious splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such things [that she might be holy and faultless]. 28 Even so husbands should love their wives as [being in a sense] their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. 29 For no man ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and carefully protects and cherishes it, as Christ does the church, 30 Because we are members (parts) of His body. 31 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. 32 This mystery is very great, but I speak concerning [the relation of] Christ and the church. 33 However, let each man of you [without exception] love his wife as [being in a sense] his very own self; and let the wife see that she respects and reverences her husband [[a] that she notices him, regards him, honors him, prefers him, venerates, and esteems him; and [b] that she defers to him, praises him, and loves and admires him exceedingly].
The ideal is for a marriage to show Christ and the Church to the world. Men should love their wives as Jesus does HIS Church. And women should love their husbands as though they were Jesus. Complete unity is the ultimate destiny of a Godly Marriage.
1 Cor. 7 and 1 Pet.3 cover much of the rest. The ideal is for post puberty youth to find God’s mate for themselves and as virgins and to marry early so that sex become a strong loving cement in the marriage. And that the families on both sides do what they can to spiritually and physically help the marriage to bloom into a vision of the world seeing Christ and HIS Church in perfect unity. Today we are seeing about 51% of Christian marriages ending in divorce. And most of our children are living together with no thought of the Godly warnings concerning fornication and adultery. We seem to be ending the “Age of the Gentiles” Luke 21 and getting ready for the rapture. And we must also realize that divorce is not an unpardonable sin. Our U.S. culture is not very supportive of a Christian Marriage. And yet this is the strongest building block for a nation.
Psalm 127:4-5, “As arrows are in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy, blessed, and fortunate is the man whose quiver is filled with them! They will not be put to shame when they speak with their adversaries [in gatherings] at the [city’s] gate. So children are always a blessing from the LORD.
Every time a society replaces lifelong, monogamous marriage with sexual immorality, that society collapses to the lowest state of functioning within just three generations. Written by a non-Christian anthropologist who was born in 1865. The so-called radically anti-family, anti-faith “Equality Act” bill (S 788) would FORCE pastors to “wed” same-gender couples in their churches, house boys and girls together overnight on mission trips and other church functions, and allow drag queen Sunday School teachers. The alternative would be to face crippling lawsuits or even arrest. This bill is now headed towards becoming law. Pray for a national revival of the true faith, once delivered. And that the Equality Act S-788 will not pass to become law.
