INFLUENCES,     “WORTH CONSIDERING”    7/17/20     By Ken<><

Today’s Scripture           (Across my desk this morning from Texas.)
“…But Noah found favor with the LORD…” (Genesis 6:8, NLT)

Favor Connections
When the great flood covered the earth, Noah’s family was the only one that was saved. It was because Noah found favor with the Lord. It doesn’t say Noah’s sons had favor, but because they were connected to Noah, their lives were spared. The principle is, when you are connected with people who are favored, people who are further along, people who are more successful, then that favor will flow down to you. You’ll see increase and blessing because of your association.  The question is, are you connected to people who inspire you, challenge you, and make you strive to do better? Or, are you connected to people who are negative, drain your energy, and cause you to compromise? Eventually, you’re going to become like whoever you’re connected to. You need to disconnect from people who are hindering your growth and find some favor connections— people who are going places, who are at another level, who have what you dream about.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You have already lined up these favor connections for me. Thank You for the people who are ordained to help me go further. Help me to disconnect from people who are hindering my growth and connect with people who are favored. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s Comments:
Even Birds know about this when flying long distances they find flying easier if in the slip stream of the bird in front of them.  Even in riding a bikers know this in riding behind each other in a file.  When a kid I use to ride my whizzer motor bike behind trucks to get the slip stream and be able to go faster.  Don’t do this, dangerious….  But the old adage is true that misery loves company and we become like the people we associate we associate.  You don’t usually find a good husband or wife in a bar.  And a bartender has little to do on Sunday School Picnic.  Not sure I agree with group blessings.  More likely than not if a blessed person harbors a person who is under God’s judgment to keep them safe then they both get the spanking.  Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5 is a point in case where the Holy Spirit was powerfully keeping the young Church clean.  Lying was the issue and the judgment terminated them both.  Unconfessed sin was the subject of 1 Cor.11: 27 So then whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in a way that is unworthy [of Him] will be guilty of [profaning and sinning against] the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But a person must [prayerfully] examine himself [and his relationship to Christ], and only when he has done so should he eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For anyone who eats and drinks [without solemn reverence and heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifice of Christ], eats and drinks a judgment on himself if he does not [j] recognize the body [of Christ]. 30 That [careless and unworthy participation] is the reason why many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep [in death]. 31 But if we evaluated and judged ourselves honestly [recognizing our shortcomings and correcting our behavior], we would not be judged. 32 But when we [fall short and] are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined [by undergoing His correction] so that we will not be condemned [to eternal punishment] along with the world.  And at the Agape shared meal the Lord Supper was always celebrated as the Lord had ordained.  So keeping clean from the world became even a matter of life and death in the Early Church.

In this last days ahead of us the True Church of Christ Jesus is to be made ready without spot or wrinkle or blemish. Eph.5:27 … so that [in turn] He might present the church to Himself in glorious splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy [set apart for God] and blameless.  Peter tells it this way: 2 Pet.3:14, “So, beloved, since you are looking forward to these things, be diligent and make every effort to be found by Him [at His return] spotless and blameless, in peace [that is, inwardly calm with a sense of spiritual well-being and confidence, having lived a life of obedience to Him].”  Some how it has gotten into church tradition that the Church of Christ Jesus goes wounded and limping into Heaven.   But that is not good Bible.  In fact in Rev.12:11 it is the Church of Christ Jesus that boots lucifer out of the heavens in the middle of the Great Tribulation.  We are called to get ready to go home and clean house.  We let lucifer in, we get to boot him out.  We go home in the Romans 8 victory mode.  And we need to always remember we can be broken off as per Rom.11:21, “…for if God did not spare the natural branches (Jews) [because of unbelief], He will not spare you either. 22 Then appreciate the gracious kindness and the severity of God: to those who fell [into spiritual ruin], severity, but to you, God’s gracious kindness—if you continue in His kindness [by faith and obedience to Him]; otherwise you too will be cut off. James adds this: James 1:15, “Then when the illicit desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin has run its course, it gives birth to death.”  John adds this for us today: “1 John 2:16-17 “For all that is in the world—the lust and sensual craving of the flesh and the lust and longing of the eyes and the boastful pride of life [pretentious confidence in one’s resources or in the stability of earthly things]—these do not come from the Father, but are from the world.  The world is passing away, and with it its lusts [the shameful pursuits and ungodly longings]; but the one who does the will of God and carries out His purposes lives forever.
