DARKNESS & LIGHT,   “WORTH CONSIDERING” 2/27/20,   By Ken Smith

Today’s Scripture    (Across my desk this morning.)
“…If you are walking in darkness, without a ray of light, trust in the LORD and rely on your God…”  (Isaiah 50:10, NLT)

Blessed in the Dark Places
All of us at some point will go through a dark place—a sickness, a divorce, a loss, a child who breaks our heart. It’s easy to get discouraged, give up on our dreams, and think that’s the end. But God uses the dark places. They’re a part of His divine plan. Think of a seed. As long as a seed remains in the light, it cannot germinate and will never become what it was created to be. The seed must be planted in the soil, in a dark place, so that the potential on the inside will come to life.

You may not realize it, but it’s only in the dark places that the seeds of greatness in you,  dreams, goals, talents, potential—will come to life. These times of darkness are where your character is developed, where you learn to trust God and persevere, and where you gain blessings you cannot gain in the light.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for the seeds of greatness that You’ve placed in me that will only come to life in dark places. Thank You for using the times of darkness to build my character and bring me blessings. I will rely on You in the dark places. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Ken’s thoughts,

This is very true, but Christ Jesus taught on this and we should carefully consider HIS thoughts.    Matt. 13:18-30  “Listen then to the [meaning of the] parable of the sower: 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom [regarding salvation] and does not understand and grasp it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road. 20 The one on whom seed was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and at once welcomes it with joy; 21 yet he has no [substantial] root in himself, but is only temporary, and when pressure or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he stumbles and falls away [abandoning the One who is the source of salvation]. 22 And the one on whom seed was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the worries and distractions of the world and the deceitfulness [the superficial pleasures and delight] of riches choke the word, and it yields no fruit. 23 And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands and grasps it; he indeed bears fruit and yields, some a hundred times [as much as was sown], some sixty [times as much], and some thirty.”

So in this Parable humanity is seen as 4 different kinds of soil and the seed is the Word of God.  And here Jesus is teaching us to carefully evaluate the kind of soil that we are.  Please realize that only one out of the 4 types actually was found really saved.  And that is was fruit bearing that defined the success.  In nature, we expect what we plant to have a return of some kind.  If not a valid return the we classify it as a weed and cut and destroy it.  So it is not enough just to know the Gospel (Good News) but whether we ingest and produce fruit from the Gospel.  Notice also in this parable that half of the soils produced (germination) life but it died due to being shallow and weedy.   As a Christian, we are taught to judge ourselves in 1 Cor.11:28 so as to not be condemned with the world.  So as we walk through the darkness of this world we are really making our decision to really go for the light or not, that is to totally focus on the light.  Let nothing tie you to the darkness of this world.  Let your roots go deep into God’s Word and allow the Holy Spirit to help you pull all of the weeds.  Do expect to produce fruit, that is what you were created to do.  And the fruit you produce is to look like Jesus and belong to HIM.   A true Christine is seeking to make disciples who are like Jesus.  It is a community effort as in Eph.4:11-16 but every single soul has a part.

Many Christians have been taught how to be a church member and join a denomination.  Even the non-denominations become denominations.   I spent many years in pew polishing, listening and tithing and totally board.  Not like the exciting Church of Acts at all, especially Acts 5: 12-16.   I have come to the conclusion that: ‘There is but one Church of Christ Jesus and all who truly LOVE & OBEY Him are members.”   And in HIM there is no option but to learn to be like HIM and to produce fruit that is like HIM.  We are given this opportunity of life on earth to learn to have faith, love, humility and obedience to Christ Jesus as our LORD and to produce fruit in kind.   The New Testament says it all and very clearly.  So totally ingest it for understanding and connect to the Holy Spirit and the Elders who are given to guide and support as they also follow the New Testament.  In the Unity factor of GOD’s Truth in Love we also get to enjoy the Power of the Kingdom while here on earth.  We get to enjoy the Victory over the darkness for ourselves and others.  We can become the extension of God’s Love in the birthing, healing and deliverance process.  Please don’t miss out.

Yours in HIS great LOVE and
Wonderful Grace and Mercy,   Ken<><
