FAITH & EXPECTANCY
FAITH & EXPECTANCY, “WORTH CONSIDERING” 8/11/20 From Ken<><
Today’s Scripture (Over my desk this morning from a church in Texas.)
“…Your faith has healed you. Go in peace…” (Luke 8:48, NIV)
Release Your Faith
Scripture says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” That means you can be obedient and yet have a sour attitude and not please God. You can give, help the poor, and volunteer, which are good things we should do, and not please God. If you’re not believing for things bigger than you can accomplish on your own, if you’re not expecting difficulties to turn around, if you’re not anticipating new levels, and thanking God that He’s opening doors you can’t open, thanking Him that He’s bringing promises to pass, then you’re not releasing your faith. You have to stir up what God put in your heart. Maybe you’ve been praying, believing, expecting for a long time. Stay in faith; it’s going to happen sooner than it looks. Get ready because God is full of surprises. Many times He’ll do it suddenly, out of the ordinary, you didn’t see it coming. Expect His goodness, and you’ll please God.
A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You are on Your throne and You are bigger than anything I am facing. I know that You work in Your own perfect timing, so I thank You that it’s on the way. I’m looking for Your goodness and Your favor today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Ken’s Comments,
Expectancy is Faith in Action. Jesus went to his home town but could not do much to help due to their lack of faith, they grew up with HIM. And then Jesus said that the Roman Centurion who come to Jesus to heal his servant had the greatest faith in all of Israel. The woman who touched the clothes of Jesus in expectancy was healed instantly. Because we rarely see healings that are validated ,particularly in our so called churches, we really go to church sort of ho hum… I have stood in lines for healing where this was the right thing to do but nothing was happening and certainly no expectancy. Again Ho Hum…..
In the over ½ a century that I have been in ministry I have experienced both the traditional religious form of theater church being performed with little happening. And I have enjoyed the times, immensely, when the Holy Spirit was released in expectancy and in great joy went around fixing the needs of God’s people. It is not that the promises of God are invalid or selective but that we don’t know how to come together in humility and loving faith and expectancy. When there is faithful expectancy the people come early and stay late because they enjoy the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. If the expectancy is arrive at 10:30 and be out for lunch by 12. In an effort to keep a ticket to the pearly gates and pay your weekly dues, I am sorry, but that is not New Testament Church. A New Testament Church has nothing to do with a building. It is a gathering of like minded souls in humility and loving faith with expectancy for the Holy Spirit to come and minister to the needs according to the Riches in Christ Jesus. In the Early Church it is clearly recorded in Acts 2:41-43 and gives us the same 7 prophetic steps of the Tabernacle of Moses in the wilderness as follows. “41 So then, those who accepted his message were baptized; and on that day about [a]3,000 souls were added [to the body of believers]. 42 They were continually and faithfully devoting themselves to the instruction of the apostles, and to fellowship, to [b] eating meals together and to prayers. 43 A sense of awe was felt by [c] everyone, and many wonders and signs (attesting miracles) were taking place through the apostles.” The King James records it this way: “41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.”
So we find seven informal steps here to help those 3,000 souls be attached and safely placed in a good basket to ripen properly. It was not to become a liturgy. Just as the Lord’s Prayer is how to pray and not a form of prayer. If you would like to really know more about what the New Testament Church was like you might enjoy the following link:

So to have a Godly expectancy we must also know God’s Truth of what it is that HE really wants to do. If I go to a gathering were I know what is going to happen, usually I am glad when it is over. In a real New Testament Healthy Church you never know what is going to happen next. I have gone to a fellowship on a Sat. evening which officially started at 7PM and hippies had been there from 5 PM waiting with expectancy. Sometimes I did not get home till after 3 AM in the morning. And there was never a dull moment. It was like I was only there for a short time as the time was so filled with the Holy Spirit. And it was not my “show” I was just a part of what happened and what the Holy Spirit wanted to do. Sometimes when demons invaded the Holy Spirit would have me take some authority. But frankly I just enjoyed being there and greatly miss it now as I look back in time at when there was much expectancy or faith.. A true New Testament Church looks like Jesus. His disciples did not know what HE was up to, most of the time. That is why HE is LORD.
