Psalm 119:4–6

Aloha Saints, Sinners, Family and Friends,   4/4/18 Psalm 119:4–6….

Early in my 1955  Christian experience, Bob Newkerk, challenged me to memorizes scripture.  The first scripture that I was given to memorize was from Psalms 119;9-11.

Psalm 119:9-11 (KJV) 9     Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.  10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.  11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

And I never forgot what was placed there so many years ago.  But the depth of meaning was not really as clear then as it is today.  Jesus said, “If we keep his commandments we love him. and that HIS commandments would not be difficult and why call HIM Lord and not do what he teaches us to do.”  Yet in all my years of church going I have never heard a sermon preached on the Commandments of Christ Jesus ???  Or the process of humility and obedience in how to keep those commandments.  Even though they are salted throughout the the New Testament but I am beginning to feel it would be good to make a list and see what it looks like.  The primary reason that we have been born in time is to find our Spiritual Connection and grow up to be like GOD.  Is not that what the WORD said in the creation story; that we were created in the image of GOD, Gen.1:26-27.  So actually God, The Word, Christ who is now Christ Jesus is still on track to get the job done in us who will allow HIM complete HIS work with us.

One of the things that Jesus commanded was, “But you, when you pray, enter your closet, and when you have shut your door to pray, pray to your Father who is in secret” (Matt. 6:6a). This doesn’t mean you can’t pray while driving to work or walking in the woods. But you need a quiet place in order to focus. Turn off the phone.   Getting to hear the voice of the LORD above all the other static takes time and commitment, John  10:26-28.  There are many voices that come to us.  Our own, some times demonic, voices of family and friends from long ago trying to help or hurt.   Once you get tuned in and know it is HIS voice as one of HIS sheep it is a blessed time of John 17 Unity.

Last week I was taking time out with the LORD as for me it is much different than I was taught was prayer.  Nothing formal, not on my knees but relaxed and looking forward to the time.  Anyway, during a time of listening (try to listen a lot.)  The voice in my mind said, “I want you to write a book.”  And rather surprised as my grammar is bad and my spelling worse.  So I came back with, ? On what subject?” and in my mind thinking that I had a bad connections that I have to watch out for.  And the voice said very lovingly and kind, “How to Be Like Jesus.”….  Red Flag went up…!!!  My reply was,   “me???,    I have bad grammar and poor spelling” and finished with, “I would have to go there first” with a little snicker.  And the voice came back with laughing and joy, “Exactly what I had in mind.”  So I am still rattling around with that one from my prayer time but it is Biblical, 1 John 4:17.  In fact that is exactly what John is sharing with us in his three little letters.  And exactly what The Creator had in Mind in the beginning.

So send me you thoughts on this and any commandments that you remember.   Love you much in Jesus,   Ken<><   www.Trinity-Aloha.org
