FLESH “WORTH CONSIDERING 2/21/19 (Across my desk this morning from Joel.)

Today’s Scripture
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV)

God Loves A Giver!
One of the greatest challenges facing our society today is the tendency to live selfish lives. Society teaches us to look out for number one. But did you know that God created us to be givers of His selfless and compassionate love? John 3:16 tells us that God showed His love to us by giving His Son, and we also show our love to others by our giving. You can experience a new level of God’s joy, blessing and favor in your life when you step out and develop a lifestyle of giving. Be a giver rather than a taker. You won’t have to look far before you find someone you can help. First Thessalonians 5:15 says, “See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always aim to show kindness and seek to do good to everybody.” Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit to meet the needs of those around you. When you do, you will experience the supernatural joy of giving.

A Prayer for Today
“God, You gave me the ultimate example of self-sacrificial giving. There are so many opportunities to show Your love to others. Every day, I will seek out ways to show kindness and compassion.”

My Comments:
But dog gone it, why can’t I be a Jacob and get away with it? I am totally selfish, I was born that way (me, my, mine and I want what I want when I want it.) And so St. Paul has the same issues and writes about them in Romans 7.10 ” And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. 11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. 12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. 13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. King James Version (KJV)

Early on in my Christian exploration of Sanctification (Process to make us like God. Gen. 1:26 HIS vision has not changed.) A young man by the name of Bob Newkirk imprinted my life with this vision that he had. In the vision there were two long tables completely full of top drawer food to eat. The folks at both tables had exactly the same access but at one table they had a big mess and every one was starving to death. At the other table all was pristine, folks were happy, full and content. It was a party. Every one had their left arm tied to the chair and a 3 foot spoon tied to the other hand. At one table all were trying to feed themselves and at the other they were feeding each other in love.

We are living in a very temporary body in a dying world where soon even the dimension of time will cease to exist with the creation of a new heaven and earth. We are born into a time of testing as to whether we will love and feed others and learn to submit and give as Christ Jesus gave HIS example with nothing in reserve for self. Or will we have money in our pockets or oil in our lamps? Are we in charge or is the Holy Spirit in charge?

Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

Yours, in HIS great love and wonderful grace and mercy, Ken<><
