WHY ARE YOU HERE?
WHY ARE YOU HERE? “WORTH CONSIDERING” 10/20/20 From Ken Smith<><
Today’s Scripture (Across my desk this morning from a church in Texas.)
Hezekiah trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him. He held fast to the LORD and did not stop following him…And the LORD was with him; he was successful in whatever he undertook.
(2 Kings 18:5–7, NIV)
Break Out of the Mold
Hezekiah’s father was King Ahaz of Judah, who set up idols for the people to worship and closed the doors of the temple. He didn’t honor God, and the nation went downhill and became very poor. Hezekiah was raised in an environment of compromise, defeat, and mediocrity. He could have turned out like his dad and adapted to that environment, but when he became king, the first thing Hezekiah did was to reopen the temple. He turned the nation back toward God.
You may be in some kind of limited environment. If Hezekiah were here today, he would tell you, “You can break out of the mold. You can be the difference maker. You can be the one who sets your family on a course to honoring God, a course of blessing, favor, and victory.” Recondition your mind, start thinking better, believing that you’re a can-do person, knowing that you have seeds of greatness, and you too will break barriers that you thought were impossible.
A Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that I can break out of the mold and be a difference maker. Thank You that I can live a life that honors You and is a blessing to my family. I declare that I will not live a life of compromise, but rather one of favor and victory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Ken’s Comments:
Really like this kind of attitude and faith principle. Don’t really consider myself a scholar at all. Never did do well in schools. Even today my spell check is overworked. Some of the things that the Holy Spirit guided me in doing that seemed dumb to do at the time. I purchased 150 acres of young trees in Oregon on a whim, it became Shiloh in the 70’s, I bought a 7 acre parcel of old building on Table Bluff in Eureka, CA and it became LightHouse Ranch and Gospel Outreach. I leased an old bar and brothel in Honalo, HI and it became Pilgrim’s Inn and The Fellowship of Christian Pilgrims in the 70’s. Bought an old Bar and Disco in Kailua Kona and it became the “Church of The Pacific” Leased and old stone church building with the roof caved in and it is now ‘Living Stones Church” in Kailua Kona. Seems the story of my life of what ever I get into the Lord has a use for it. Now looking into the vision of restoring the New Testament concept of House Churches. Just set up a new web file called Ohana Church or www.OhanaChurch.Life As it is something that any family can do to learn more about the Kingdom of God. So far not one contact, ad in the West Hawaii Today, nada -0- Like no one is interested. But I am very interested in what the LORD is up to now even at my age. So I get up in the mornings with that in mind, what next? !!!! Life is very exciting in the dimension of faith. When your life is truly centered in Jesus Christ as LORD, it is not about what I can do. It is all about what HE can do. HE has given HIS kids a lot of wonderful promises and it is much like walking on water. You got to be willing to get out of your boat that you are in if you are ever going to learn to walk on the water. Of course, you need to be invited so learning to hear the voice of God, even a little, is really necessary to not getting wet. For things to work out it is like a partnership, Our CEO is our creator, Jesus is the foreman but even as a workman I hold valuable stock in the corporation. So little is much when God is in it, and that is for sure. From 1968 when I received the empowering gift of the Holy Spirit, it has been exciting. So every day is a gift from my Creator to get involved in HIS WORLD of eternity. Randy in Mexico setting up a ministry, Lisa in Korea putting together a HomeChurch Internet access. Maggie in Kona working on what to do to access China with the House Church potential. I am a Happy Camper in the LORD.
And all of us have a reason in the LORD for our Creation. Something with Jesus in the Middle of it. Something that is not of this world. “Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one’s own resources or in the stability of earthly things]—these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself]. And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides (remains) forever. 1 John 2:15-17 “See what [an incredible] quality of love the Father has given (shown, bestowed on) us, that we should [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! The reason that the world does not know (recognize, acknowledge) us is that it does not know (recognize, acknowledge) Him. 1 John 3:1 Do not be surprised and wonder, brethren, that the world detests and pursues you with hatred. 1 John 3:13
