JUDGMENT

JUDGMENT     “WORTH CONSIDERING”    10/16/19   (Across my desk this morning from Joel.)

My Thoughts:
Forgiving ourselves and others and asking our Heavenly Father to forgive us is primary to having a happy and productive life in this world and the next.  In the example of prayer that Christ Jesus gave us it is top drawer.

⁹ After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. ¹⁰ Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. ¹¹ Give us this day our daily bread. ¹² And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. ¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. ¹⁴ For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: ¹⁵ but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.  Matt. 6:8-20  Notice here that we are held by the same glue that we use on others…. twice in this example of how to pray.   (The Lord’s Prayer is really found in John 17.)

So to what degree to you want to be forgiven?  Personally,  I want it all to be gone and forgotten.  The Holy Scriptures teach us:  “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”  Rom.12:19.  Christ Jesus taught,  “Judge not, that ye be not judged. ² For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. ³ And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?”  Matt.7:1-3

Now we need to understand that there is two kinds of judgment,  one kind is to destroy and the other is to help and restore.  Every day we are called on to make righteous judgment in helping others to find Christ Jesus as Lord.  And this is one of the many jobs of the Holy Spirit.  Paul shares on this in 1 Cor. 6.    We can not help people effectively without the gifts of the Spirit of Word of Knowledge and Word of Wisdom in operation as per 1 Cor.14:24-25
But if all prophesy [foretelling the future, speaking a new message from God to the people], and an unbeliever or outsider comes in, he is convicted [of his sins] by all, and he is called to account by all [because he can understand what is being said]; ²⁵ the secrets of his heart are laid bare. And so, falling on his face, he will worship God, declaring that God is really among you. AMP  Now when the Holy Spirit starts doing this in the Church, it is really cooking…. The LORD is being revealed as in Eph.4:11-16.   ^” And [His gifts to the church were varied and] He Himself appointed some as apostles [special messengers, representatives], some as prophets [who speak a new message from God to the people], some as evangelists [who spread the good news of salvation], and some as pastors and teachers [to shepherd and guide and instruct], ¹² [and He did this] to fully equip and perfect the saints (God’s people) for works of service, to build up the body of Christ [the church]; ¹³ until we all reach oneness in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, [growing spiritually] to become a mature believer, reaching to the measure of the fullness of Christ [manifesting His spiritual completeness and exercising our spiritual gifts in unity]. ¹⁴ So that we are no longer children [spiritually immature], tossed back and forth [like ships on a stormy sea] and carried about by every wind of [shifting] doctrine, by the cunning and trickery of [unscrupulous] men, by the deceitful scheming of people ready to do anything [for personal profit]. ¹⁵ But speaking the truth in love [in all things—both our speech and our lives expressing His truth], let us grow up in all things into Him [following His example] who is the Head—Christ. ¹⁶ From Him the whole body [the church, in all its various parts], joined and knitted firmly together by what every joint supplies, when each part is working properly, causes the body to grow and mature, building itself up ^[a]in [unselfish] love.”
